Here's the Seiko Sea Urchin in the flesh. Took quite a while to arrive...

Another Massdrop:

And on the day that the boss showed me my year's bonus payout... This would probably be in the low $900's AUD after exchange.

Very tempted... 5 days to decide.

My SARB033 arrived a couple of days ago and I adjusted the bracelet last night.

I'm really happy and will probably keep the bracelet for the time being.

Excellent! Been loving mine so far. Keeps time really well too. It's fast but only a few seconds a day.

I had my first experience with a custom strap maker. My Fossil Positive:Negative Frank Gehry needed a new strap but it is an unusual design and being quite old, actual replacement straps were not available. A post on watchuseek resulted in a bloke from Tennessee contacting me to say he could make one, but I'd need to send the watch to him.

A bit of searching indicated he was a known quantity, so with a bit of trepidation I sent it off to him. He kept me informed and yesterday the watch came back looking as good as new, with the appropriate buckles, strap holes etc. Quite a nice outcome that will keep the watch going for a few more years.

Excellent! That would have been really nerve racking, even knowing he wasn't dodgy I'd have been hesitant. Looks like quality work from what I can see.

It is very nice work. Phone camera not very good at close stuff, unless I can check the settings.

Finally got my replacement Mondaine Stop 2 Go. My original one broke and couldn't be repaired (the original Stop 2 Go movement had some issues). A couple of years ago Mondaine released a new movement and relaunched the watch.

The movement replicates the Swiss railway clocks, the minute hands of which all jump forward together at the same time thanks to a pulse which is sent through the system. In the watch (quartz movement), the second hand sweeps around in increments smaller than a second, then when it gets to the 12 o'clock position it pauses for about a second, at which the minute hand jumps forward to the next minute and the second hand starts to sweep again.

Very neat.

These are cheap and could be nasty but I like the idea and I would wear one if it held time well.

Doc, there's some wooden watches here: http://www.we-wood.com.au/

I bought Bibi one a few years ago. It didn't last (problem was the cheap quartz movement rather than the wood).

The Seiko SARB033/035 is back on Massdrop again. Price looks good. Can't recommend the watch highly enough. Smallish watch though, so keep that in mind if you have large wrists.

Be aware that you will be waiting a while for it too... Can't remember how long I had to wait for mine, but it was painful!
