I thought his article was interesting: https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/si ... -election/

One of the things I like about it, is I think it can also help contextualise the positioning of Australian political parties relative to the US political system. So many in Australia equate the Liberal party with the Republicans and the ALP with the Democrats, but when they do they fail to realise just how right-wing both American parties actually are. That the Liberal party (being a centre-right party) is actually more like the Democrats, that the ALP is actually far left in comparison to the Democrats, and the Republicans are just bat-shit crazy right compared to all Australian political parties.

I especially liked this chart:
Image

You can see in this chart how in 2004 the US Democrats were actually a centre-right party, went further right during Obama's time, and then took a dramatic turn to the left when Bernie Sanders dragged them kicking-and-screaming towards a more liberal position (think of where they would have been if Clinton had won).
- When trouble arises and things look bad, there is always one individual who perceives a solution and is willing to take command. Very often, that individual is crazy.
- If youre paddling upstream in a canoe and a wheel falls off, how many pancakes fit in a doghouse? None! Icecream doesn't have bones!!!

The left-right dichotomy is simplistic rubbish in my opinion.

I am interested to see how this plays out. Old Tone not exactly known for the cold hard facts.

That said, it shouldn't happen.

The [extremely satisfying] transcript of Malcolm Roberts' High Court hearing into his eligibility [spoiler alert: he was not eligible under S.44 and took no actual steps to confirm it before signing nomination forms, beyond 'feeling' Australian because his Dad didn't needle him] is here:

http://www.austlii.edu.au/cgi-bin/viewd ... 7/192.html

He is, as they say 'cooked'.

Even better than that is the fact Professor Brian Cox is trolling him on Twitter.

Wow, Tony Abbott is desperate for attention. A guy that believes there is a man in the sky who watches you wank, but doesnt listen to 97% of climate scientists.
"In most countries, far more people die in cold snaps than in heatwaves, so a gradual lift in global temperatures, especially if it's accompanied by more prosperity and more capacity to adapt to change, might even be beneficial," he said.

This guy is the embarrassment of the country.

There should be a yearly lemon prize for politicians, when enough people vote for someone, they should be banned from political & public work for life.
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?
