You guys still remember the Adani mine, right?

In CQ the Adani company is a bad name. People aren't happy about it but it's going to put to use the coal loading and storage facilities in Gladstone I guess.

The Feds look really stupid on this. Now they are trying to claw back some initiative on this issue. But they can do this because they will reach their projected energy targets by doing fuck all. The states by implementing such changes, it gets the Feds over the line. They want private investment into infrastructure as long as it doesn't make them look bad. This does.

So stupid to trot out a feasibility study as a solution. So many questions about Snowy River flows etc Pathetic attempt to try to regain the initiative .

Yep, a grasp at 1940s and 50s technology for our agile nation. David Pope is great today on this.

This is as likely to get general public interest as a proposal to discuss "Why ducks quack, and why they are racist by not speaking English."
- When trouble arises and things look bad, there is always one individual who perceives a solution and is willing to take command. Very often, that individual is crazy.
- If youre paddling upstream in a canoe and a wheel falls off, how many pancakes fit in a doghouse? None! Icecream doesn't have bones!!!

Anyone knows what the history of the "true blue aussie" expression is? I've read it was created in the 1800's but that's not saying much...

It's an English term meaning loyalty. Can't remember which cause it applies too though. Like most of our language we've adapted it to mean something or someone is genuine. Americans would call it being a patriot.

Ah! I've looked up the dictionary now and it has a meaning "non fading blue dye", that looks like it maybe the root of it. Thanks, I thought it was originally Australian, and did not look any further :)

Not really new info, but still an interesting take on the situation.

How the free market failed Australia and priced us out of our own gas supply

If the numbers are correct, it's an incredible clusterfuck, which sees Australia being conned out of some $25b /year. (this is just royalties compared to Quatar with similar-magnitue exports) Plus the increased energy prices. Neatly done, huh?

Yeah I read that, pretty much confirms what we already knew, Turnbull presided over the absolute travesty that the NBN has become. It's fucking disgraceful!

What really pisses me off to no end here is twofold
1) this can't be undone (or at least not without further billions spent and lots of equipment simply chucked out)
2) he has zero responsibility or accountability. None. Zilch. Happily smiling away as if all was good.
