I don't think there's any chance of NK invading the south. There's little chance of NK being the aggressor full stop, given it's almost certainly suicidal. NK might have the appearance of a big standing army but not a single one of their soldiers has ever seen service, so it's highly unlikely they'd put up much of a fight. There doesn't seem any possible military scenario that won't be a massive disaster for all sides, really.

I think NK just figured out that the US only picks fights with opposition that has no means to fight back. Their military campaigns seem to mainly be PR campaigns, so they need relatively few casualties while still giving the people at home the illusion of power.

That said, with an idiot like Trump in charge there are no certainties, and it seems like it's quite easy to whip US citizens into backing military action in some far off land, sadly. As Trump's popularity falls, the more likely he is to fall back to the tried and trusted US political strategy of dropping some bombs somewhere.

The Warriors were never going anyway, they were just trying to find a diplomatic way of saying no - well that problem has been solved.
NBA teams wont even stay in his hotels so why would they go and meet him?

Worth remembering Exercise Able Archer in 1983, where a Soviet officer (who I think recently died) stopped a massive Soviet nuclear response to a false radar return that had seemed like a US missile attack. That a cooler head prevailed at a time of incredible paranoia and stress is pretty amazing. i doubt, on the US side, that there would be the same self-control with Trump in charge.

This is the bit we should all be focussing on. Trump's an incompetent moron. We know that now, he proves it daily.

A more important question is, why are people happy to be led by an incompetent moron?

Because if the next one they vote for is a competent moron, who can actually get things done, we're all in trouble. There's not enough time being spent on why people didn't want a normal politician. It's not because they're idiots, there's more to it than that.

And I'm not being smug towards the yanks when we have our own idiocy called Brexit that's also proving to be the relentless stream of embarrassment that half of us thought it would be.

Actually, quite a few countries are getting lying, cheating, idiotic career politicians now. And the choice is often between one incompetent lying bastard and another. My bro is complaining about the exact same thing in Hungary.
These politicians don't seem to care what the intelligent minority thinks about them; they've no morals, no qualms about what they do, because seemingly there are only two driving forces: their financial supporters and (around election time) the next elections.
In between they'll say what seems the best thing to say. True or making sense? Does not matter. Their skin is thicker than a hyppo's.
The system is broken.

Altho it seems in Europe the problem is a bit bigger; when fascist parties are getting significant amount of votes: that's time to worry. Especially if you have jews in the family & friend circles.

I know he keeps moving the bar every week but surely this is the dumbest thing he has said. He is the president of the Virgin Islands.

Apparently he also had an alias employer called John Miller, or John Barron that he used to call journalists and talk Trump up. Sad.

I'll believe it when it happens. There seems to have been lots of times when it seems like the beginning of the end, although given Trump's relentless attempts to distract recently he's clearly nervous about something.
