ARSE LFS S1 Tribute

Post by Takumi »

Hi guys,
For the last week or so I have been working on a little (well 17minute!?) tribute video to ARSE LFS S1. It's available on YT in up to 720p.

Please bear in mind that while I tried to feature as many people as possible, I know for sure some have missed out. For example, I couldn't find any replays at all with Cutter - did you ever play S1 mate!??? :p I am kidding of course. This video also is not perfect - the frame rate drops occasionally and the only effects I know are cross fade and fade to black  I also doubled up FP in the credits but couldn't be arsed rerendering the movie and I was halfway through uploading it anyway.

Anyone who has missed out on this one can be included in the S2 video at a later date.
Enjoy.

Youtube have imposed restrictions on the clip because of the music tracks I have used. So unfortunately it can't be viewed on mobile devices, or in Germany. lol

Undoubtedly, it was the time the devs were realising snippets of information about S2 and the whole community was getting really excited

Once again awesome job Takumi!

I am getting so close to plugging the wheels and pedal in again.

Well the MNR is still on and there is a race every Monday with ~20 or so people rocking up each race

Right now we are in a middle of a F08 series which is quite fun!

Tak, if you scanned the crowd you would have seen Cutter, he spent most of his time there :)

Cutter was busy doing other things for LFS.
Which, sadly was mainly a waste of time.
But I did race, but mainly lost.

Some trivia to go with the video:

The first race (1:40 - 5:40) was an AAL TinTop round, 40 laps around SO Classic
- Pixelboy had to spectate during the rolling start due to lag and couldn't participate.
- PRT were using their second generation skins
- At 2:06 I turned in on Sarsi at T1 because I never expected him to pounce that early!
- I believe this is when I started playing with soft suspension setups. Ghostwalker and I were both using them and at times we were identical through the chicanes
- Around 10 laps in Rots wiped out on the final turn and was relagated to the back of the pack for the remainder of the race (Bummer Dude...)

Second Race (5:50 - 7:40) was a Triple Turbo Challenge round of the AAL (Round 3 I think?)
- Chaz was the only person to qualify for Div A in the XRT
- PRT version 1 skins

Third Race (7:40 - 9:00) is a random TBO race
- The eternal struggle of RB4 vs FXO
- I believe one of Gusto's early races

Fourth Race (9:00 - 10:07) is a random Fern Bay XF vs XR race
- Damage INC turns across the pack on the first turn but tells everyone to keep going
- One of TNDA's early races in 900 degree mode
- Scottie dominated it to the end

Fifth race (10:07 - 11:23) was Div C of the S1 finale race. 50 laps around FE Black with a pitstop mod
- Gusto joins ORT
- The elusive Meegoreng
- Sarsi and I dueled for most of the race but I eventually won it, with him a close second. But I didn't go through to the timed finale because there were two DIV C races - with Rots winning the other one less than a second quicker than me!

S1 Timed Finale (11:23 - 12:20) was probably my the most memorable race I watched in S1
- Timed starts were calculated by Pixelboy (to perfection I might add)
- Scottie mentioned how he was getting worried in the MRT as the lap progressed - as he didn't see the others until right near the end

Credits (12:20 till the end)
- Bugle was in a bouncy LX6 race around BL Rev - which he ended up winning
- Doso was on a rolling start of the TTT AAL Round 4 at BL Rev
- Latch and Grasshoppah both get a little crossed up in that same race
- My part in the RB4 was from my first S1 enduro with EmPee in his blue RB4
- Viperosi leading the MRT pack on the private PR server
- Pixelboy always struggled with his connection!
- Meegoreng being a bit controversial not long after the boxing day tsunami in 2004, and clearly excited about the impending S2
- Bargearse living up to his number plates....
- Tim's one is interesting. In the previous race, the [L] Quattro chap said Tim's driving was shit and challenged him to a 1 on 1 race. Tim agreed and everyone else spectated so they could race fairly together. The footage with Tim shows them both at the end of the straight on Lap 1. Quattro brakes too late and spears off into the gravel and disconnects
It's been nice, chaps.

Nah unfortunately I didn't have that saved :p from memory I think you guys came together on one of the corners and he just blew up about it. I was full on bagging him out after he speared off onto the gravel though - I think he learnt his lesson

Nice one Tak! Although, it's very sad to see the state of Blackwood in 2012 :(

You managed to capture one of my best races - winning a div A race in the FXO. I still remember that night for setting a 58.99 in practice. Great memories. :)
