.6E out

Post by Coopz »

Good to see them still working on the old girl.

We have released a new version of LFS with a much improved multiplayer system. While using the same physics as 0.6B, it provides a much smoother, more reliable and interactive online experience. In previous versions there were often delays and lags on busy servers, but the new one works in a completely different way. We are still working on the new tyre physics and additional content, but had to take some time out from that because some hackers found a way to go online with no user name.

Some new things in 0.6E :

- New "instant" join system for fast and reliable connection
- No delays to others caused by players with slow connections
- New packet buffering and storage system reduces server load
- New hacking protection and cheat detection systems
- Two new translations : Indonesian and Romanian
- Various other fixes and improvements

Read all about the new version and how to get it on the 0.6E information page.

We hope you enjoy the new updates!

Read to me that all they've done is try protect their revenue stream, surely it's not making much these days.
Pity!!!

There were some pretty serious issues with hackers getting onto servers as admins without even using the admin password and stuffing around with things. Beyond that, its the same old bullshit from Scawen.

Why do they bother ? Its way too little and way too late .

The 18 active drivers must be happy about the lack of hackers though.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

I imagine they completely ignore the views of the great unwashed.

Complete joke!

But at least 99% of the worlds languages can read that now.

If they spent half as much time developing the game as others have translated it... well... it would be up to S30000000000001 by now.

Haven't played for years, but I'll certainly have a look once they do something substantial to it. If they never do.. then It's not going to bother me

Had some of my best sim races ever with LFS and it used to have a fantastic community... I think it hit its peak in 2003/4 then the numbers started dropping off as graphic and content wise it could not compete with rFactor and after 4000 races at Blackwood and Kyoto things became a bit repetitive. Still wish it had a proper AI race mode, the current AI is the dumbest ever.

Myself and vil were both supposed to get S3 licenses as payment for skins used in lfs. Instead we both got absolutely no credit! Well done!

Was an awesome competition that one, tossers
