Half Life 1 Redux

Post by Johnny X »

Been keeping an eye on Black Mesa Source (HL1 on the Source engine). It's been on and off for what seems years now but finally there is light at the end of the tunnel !

Here's the trailer, there's a few bits you'll remember and smile at if you played the original.

It's had me running thro HL1 again this week :vibes:

Wow, I didn't know this was in the pipeline but I've still been waiting for something like this ever since they released the source version of HL1. I'd definitely give it another play through - it's been so many years now...

Thats fantastic. I've been waiting for this for quite some time now, I remember they were having problems finding voice actors?

Anyways, can't wait for it.

Looks pretty awesome. I never played the first HL more than 30mins in. The face huggers always annoyed me too much :)

The first Half Life is ingrained in my soul like a great song or a great film. I'd love to play it through again :)

I ran through Half Life again over Christmas, well the Source version.

A truly awesome game (apart from Zen).

Just for all of those (including me) who thought this would never see the light of day......

http://www.blackmesasource.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

14th Sept release day. Apparently the mod is finished up to the end of Lambda Core whilst Zen is yet to be finished. According to the devs Zen isn't too far from completion but they have decided to release it later along with Black Mesa Deathmatch. Zen will be almost a game in itself as they have greatly increased the content here.

Fingers crossed.....

I totally understand your skepticism, but I do think that it is actually going to happen. A while back on the site they announced that the mod would be released within a couple of weeks of the new sound-track being released (New score by Joel someone or other). The OST has been released and the site now opens on the countdown page.

This gameplay footage was leaked a week or so back too.

On A Rail has been heavily revised, it's not an absolute faithfull to the original re-make but I'm guessing it's going to be something that fans of the original are going to enjoy. I just hope that the new Zen doesn't take another 8 years.

Half life is such a wasted series. It was like the halo of pc, but valve and whoever else was involved have absolutely wasted an enormous money spinner.
