Good one r8. 300 rounds is a truck load of ammo!

I picked up the AKM from one of Balotas dormitory blocks.

I'll need to be pretty conservative with it though. No M4's (along with ammo and other associated parts) are spawning at the moment.

We killed someone the night before with a couple of duped 60 round Stanag mags. Funnily enough, not 20s after he died there was a Battle-Eye banning. We left all that shit on the body and hid it.

The magazines had a whole bunch of random numbers instead of the descriptive text.

Once you empty the magazine, the text returns to normal. We didn't want to be associated with that kind of crap, so didn't utilise the magazines or the ammo in them.

So Ned Kelly has been running around with a mosin and long range scope, from the east he ran to the NWAF. Every bullet found apart from what he needed. Frustrated he was! Then along came last night . . . :)

He logged in just outside the northern police station, north of the NWAF. Within the top room, he found the allusive ammo! Now it's time to scope out the camp site, 20 odd players on the server, surely someone is hunting the NWAF. Through the bushes he ran, until he reached the edge, up high, he crouched down, pulled out his mosin and sighted the camp sight. ZIP, ZIP, immediately he was under fire!! Run, run, he took 5 steps than fell flat, unconscious. . . :(

Ned was very ,very cranky when he went down, the night had only just started and he was already a dead duck, however, he quickly realized, all was not as it seemed.

Voices soon followed, "oh man, we shot Ned Kelly!", "ahh, he's an Aussie icon, quick, bandage him, let's get him up!"

Ned was overjoyed! "I'm not going to die" he thought. :aussie:

Ned soon learnt that he had stumbled upon 3 players, virtually ran straight past their camp. All good mates, not looking for trouble, or kills, hence the reason Ned was only shot in the legs. After being patched up, fed, and introduced to the gang, Ned asked if he could run with the crew. Yes, was the answer, so after a few glitches with skype, the gang connected, communication lines opened up, all was good!

An enjoyable night proceeded, roaming the woods around the NWAF, getting to know each other, the lads were very welcoming and refreshingly polite, no harsh language, Ned was having a great time with his new mates. A couple of hours later, the gang had slowly decreased as each member had returned to life outside dayz.

At the nights end, Ned was very happy with his new found buds, and plans were made to gather the gang for the following night.

Ned HAS friends!! :D

Haha nice! Need to get back on and join in with you guys. I keep getting home too late (and tired) to play much of anything. A bit of Assassin's Creed last night to give it a try and off to bed.

Kind of fitting that you got shot in the legs. :aussie:

Another cracker last night!

As a team of 4, we staked out the NWAF. We spotted a player at the ATC, prone on the top level, he only popped up once or twice, we watched him for 10 minutes and decided he was a sniper. Another player had been spotted around the base of the ATC, but we only saw him once. We needed someone to cross the field for a different point of view. As I was the new guy, I decided to volunteer for the dangerous run across the field.
As I reached the other side, news came over that a team member had been hit by the sniper, he managed to return fire, and his bullet hit the mark, but not sure of the kill.
My recon mission found the large door of the fire station closed, and the door to the ATC also closed! We assumed another player was camping on the bottom level of the ATC, it seemed a trap had been laid. . .
The fire station was clear, so I decided to get to the base of the ATC. Once across, the command was given to climb the outside ladder to get a recon on the top level sniper, was he dead? My heart rate was up, this is surely a dangerous move. I holstered my magnum and ascended the ladder. I went into 3rd person view, and peaked over the top. I didn't have a clear view of the sniper, only a small section of his hip. There was no movement, I was hidden from his view, I decided to continue and get onto the verandah.

ZIP, ZIP, I was hit! dead. . . but from where? It wasn't from inside, there was a 3rd person!

Unfortunately, there is no end to this encounter, the server reset 10 minutes later, we all logged back in, the server then had more issues and we all dropped out again!

So much more intense working with a group, especially with guys that play regularly and as a team. We ended the night with a boxing match, where I came away with the win, 4 knockouts in a row!

We had a group last night (8 or so) all camped out over looking (the hill and long sheds to the west) the NEAF.

I came in late to the mix and slowly made my way up over the mountain, got into a position and kept eyes on the ATC. Not 1mins after laying down, some random starts walking slowly straight past me towards where the rest of the group was. He never stood a chance. Mosin to the back of the potato.

Huge gunfight errupted.

Unfortunately, the server crashed (more like some arsehole used the splint exploit)

Damn it, i just downloaded a 1.1GB update on Tuesday.

At least I still have my Mosin with its bipod, but the gun-sway, even when prone and with the bipod deployed is stupid. Guess I'll just have to hose-down the targets with my drum fed AK. :eyepop:

Durrie, I got a tip the other day in regards to sway. . .

Apparently, you may have a broken arm, but it doesn't show....... anyways, make yourself a splint and apply it. I tried it last night, it works!!!!!! No more sway!

by the way, the zombies are relentless this patch. Very hard to kill with melee weapons. I made the mistake of firing on one close to Balota, well, didn't that ring the dinner bell!!! I couldn't get a big enough gap to bandage myself, so had to keep pounding away with the mosin. 20 + zombies, one after the other, barely enough time to reload. In the end, I lost. :(

Respawned, complete play style rethink, and the realization that closed doors now keep zeds out!! (well, 90% of the time!)

Maybe use a .357 to the head. Quieter. Does that mean the dinner bell is not heard quite so widely?

Its a bit of a bummer that a fire axe, or two, to the noggin does not put them down.

Getting there.

A group of us decided to make the trek south from NW Airfield to Bolota, stopping along the way in Zelenogorsk and the military base further to the south.

By the time we hit the Balota airfield, it'd already been looted so we called it a night.

Logged in this morning and there was a heli crash 20m away. Hand grip and a couple of sights for the M4 to boot.

Lost my fully kitted guy to the new constant Zed attack.

I used my 75 round AK mag, and about 60x .357 rounds, but the hits from the Zeds after they die wrecked all my gear, including my bandages etc, and broke my arms and legs. I got pushed through a wall from the second story of a building, some Zeds walked through walls to attack me and they do not lose the track when you run.

I think they have some more tweaking to do.
