Once JD gets set up, maybe we can line up an ARSE fly-in.

Hey, Durrie. I was looking through my youtube subscriptions last night and saw Requiem's page. I noticed that there's three videos in there specifically on head-on passes, perhaps you missed them:

Frontal Attack

Turning Attack

Lead Turn

Hope that helps.

Channel map is lovely and there have been improvements in AI etc. I flew a very short Sopwith Strutter campaign last night. Set in 1916, 1 RNAS, took off, flew along the coast to bomb an enemy airfield with 4 others, caught them with their pants down, then a gently turn to head back home when the right wings fell off and down we went. Total length of career - 23 minutes.

I confess. I can't fly the bloody thing.

I've been on some training missions but man, even they're difficult. I have a good set of controllers but they're not helping. Even the throttle is arse about (back = open, forward = close). Haven't figured out how to fix that yet.

Had a look at Requiem's channel. I reckon that guy is a fighter pilot (as in a real one). Totally knows his stuff.

In the menu where you assign your controls, they usually have a check-box to reverse an axis.

Or you could fly planes that have no trottle, Fokker Eindecker is one. You toggle the kill switch to control speed.

But check your controls. It took me a while to set up HOTAS but since I went to win 10, not sure if anything works or saved.

Thanks guys. I can't find the check box yet (still looking for it because I saw it earlier...grrr!). I don't think the Eindecker is in the game. I think I have to buy it.

The problem I'm having at the moment is with the rudder. I think I have a loose wire in it because it seems really unstable (won't hold calibration) and from time to time it will just snatch, making turns extremely difficult. I might disconnect it for a while until I get used to the flight model.

What do you use for rudder control JD? It might be a potentiometer going bad.

CH Pro Pedals Doc. I think it's the bit where the cable comes out of the unit. Looks as though it might have fractured. It's at a pretty nasty angle.

Tried without the pedals with slightly improved results. Also tried my old TrackIR 3 which I used to use with Il2 Sturmovik Pacific Fighters but it wasn't too good.

JD - you can try updating the TrackIR software - TIR4 software will run a TIR3 device (which is what I use).

Yeah, it's not working properly with 4 and doesn't seem to know what 5 is.

For some reason I can't look up only sideways and it seem to get stuck so I'm constantly hitting the F12 button to centre it.

I have CH pro pedals too and my pot went screwy causing my rudder issues. My Saitek HOTAS has a 3 axis stick so I've stored my pedals for fixing at a later date.

Which Saitek HOTAS do you have Doc?

I am still using an old CH Pro full setup but it's getting long in the tooth and I'm thinking of ditching it anyway.

I use a Saitek X52 Pro. Took me a while to set it up and get use to it but I love it.

Right. I'll keep it in mind.

I've had a bit more success tonight. The only Triple Entente aircraft I can't fly is the S.E.5a. I have had success with all the others. I flew it six times tonight; once I tore the wings off and five times I've been shot in the head and killed! The only time I had flown it previously was last night and I got shot in the head and killed then too. (There will be some around here who will think that not a bad idea!)

All the other ones I'm scoring kills with. I've even been okay in the SPAD XIII, which I never really liked and still don't (poor visibility, not using the TrackIR). I haven't even taken bees off anyone with the S.E. yet.

I'll try to fix the pedals. It's really difficult without them.

Not sure Smiss. I think it's just the default one.

Yeah, if you can post it that would be awesome! Thanks! :tilt:

Hey JD - here's a link to two good profiles to try. Try Requiem's first
