Finally

Post by Muppet »

Well it's over 2 years in the making, but I think i finally cracked a neg.

Did a 3:36.9 in a cooper at spa, and if the info given on Tuesday night is correct anything better than a 3:38 is neg. I do hope this is for the 66 mod as well or i'll just cry lol.

Sorry mate, a 3:20.342 is negative at spa, its a tricky place to get, saying that a mate of mine set the 14th fastest time in a honda at spa the otherday. a 3:15 or something stupid.

go there, and upload your player.ini and you can see for yourself :)

Well done Matt, the 66 mod benchmark is 3:38.0

Good feeling aint it? Running the Cooper round there on Tuesday night gave me my first Spa neg too.

EDIT: I went and checked GPLRank, and confirm you have your first green track. You're only about 0.3 away at Reims too.

Yeah it is, thanks guys.

Need the ring just to get myself a rank, and not so unhappy too see that i'm not as far off on going neg on some other tracks, so has motivated me to give it a bit more practice on those tracks to get better times.

that's a big difference in lap times from the 67 cars which weren't really that different. Is that because they use the real 66 times as a benchmark?

Yeah they used real lap times but a few were adjusted to 105% of their actual time.

Well done Quincy. It will look shithouse straight out of the box, so make sure you go to RSC and update the graphics on your cars and tracks. And have fun, though you may find it frustrating for a while like a lot of us did.

use this, it updates everything, tracks, cars and applies patches in one go as you install. Just plonk your gpl cd in and run that, it'll do the rest. http://gplps.org/installer/gplinstallmax_0.97_US.exe

Hey Q, where did you get it & how much you pay?

I have been trying to get it running on my rig but it just gives me a blank screen the crashes to desktop.
So frustrating as I have no clue why or how to fix it.

got it!! arrived today (didnt take long to come from the UK...)
installed with the installmax thingo (from woodsy link i think)... took me a little while to work out the calibration of wheel and pedals etc.. had to change to OpenGL to enable fullscreen, (was only getting 1/4 picture) but all in all, pretty happy with how it's all come together.... did a few laps around monaco in the lotus, rev's where totally all wrong, changed to a 45/45 ramp (gotta learn all this new stuff....) still was pretty average... but will download some set-ups and have a better go at it later tonight, after MNR (holly shit i'm booked up full with racing ATM...!!>???)

one thing i have noticed, (or maybe it's supposed to be), the green "go" button bottom right corner, and the red button, bottom left, are they supposed to say anything?? it looks like they are cut in half.... like my screen resolution isn't matching up? but, everything else seems ok? maybe they don't say anything anyways??

gotta admit, the speed element that everyone talks about is pretty awesome.. can't wait to get my hands on some cracka setups...and hit full speed...!!

make sure to grab the new rasterizer files from here http://forum.racesimcentral.com/showthread.php?t=318308
It should sort out the quarter screen issues and make it run a lot better and look nicer.

Yeah Q I know what you mean, with the generous help from w00dsy (thanks m8) I am also hooked, can't believe its a 10yr old game and is so damn good.
FFB is superb and the whole rawness is just so immersive. Can't drive fast to save myself yet but I don't really care at the moment as it is so new and unique ( me saying it is new).

by the way the issue of only qtr of the game showing is easily fixed by opening the CORE.ini file & finding the section [ Direct3D7 ] and editing the following: DirectMirrorRendering = 1 to DirectMirrorRendering = 0.

Sorry guys this topic has gone a little off track, trust us newcomers to do something like that :p

If it didn't go OT it wouldn't be an ARSE forum, would it?

When you're comfortable with the idea, come for a drive with ARSE on Tuesday nights. :aussie:

your first task is a sub 1.30 at monza in the 67's, and a sub 8.30 at the ring. Actually your first task is a clean lap anywhere :p
