It's about time. They were getting podiums when she first took over. Now they're running year old engines, have a terrible car and have no money.

Will we see the possibility of an 11th team on the grid soon?

That's because they had a result at Le Mans and "the party" have claimed it. Now let's take on the world!

I'll be impressed if they try to make their own engines :)

More likely it'd be something akin to Force India, sponsored by a big brand like Alibaba or Huawei with extra backing from the Chinese govt.

Geely or SIAC might be more likely as they have ties with Volvo and VW respectively.

Latest engine rumours is that Ferrari have long been wanting to get the Alfa Romeo name in to F1 as part of their FIAT group push. McLaren could run Alfa branded Ferrari engines (now that Ron Dennis has gone).

These hybrids are great bits of kit but so bloody expensive. It needs to be changed so teams like Mclaren and Williams can show their engineering more than what they can now.

Both teams have done well from hybrid outside of F1. Williams system was the base for audi's lmp1 system and has been sold to many others. Mclaren did the electrics for S1 of formula E, and the tech went into the P1 as well

When you get an engine, you get the hybrid stuff too. So Williams had a lot of success with their fly wheel system for generating power but you can't use that on the current Merc engine.

Both have shown, as you said GT, that they have great systems they've developed but they can't be used under the current rules or the package just won't allow it.

If this is true it sounds expensive.

Also an interesting side note regarding ongoing sponsorship arrangements.
It is a return to its roots for McLaren, who ran with Mercedes engines from 1995 until 2014 when it made the switch to Honda.

As part of the switch to Honda, McLaren also secured a long-term sponsorship agreement with Honda, making the Japanese car manufacturer the team’s premium sponsor.
It remains unclear if Honda will be held to see out its sponsorship agreement with McLaren if the team pulls the pin on their engine deal, however, recent reports claim Honda will be forced to see out at least part of its long term sponsorship deal which runs through until the end of 2022.

However a recent contrasting report states that McLaren’s decision to walk away from Honda would see the team lost a whopping $145 million in Honda contributions towards driver salaries, performance testing and car development.

BBC reporting that....
It has not definitively happened yet, but it is now almost certain that Silverstone will in the next few days exercise an option to end its contract to host the British Grand Prix after 2019.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/40518666

I suspect it's just a bit of headline grabbing clickbait though. If they don't bail out, they're stuck with Bernie's ratcheted costing meaning by 2027 they'll be paying £27m to host the race with no Government backing. They can't afford that. By bailing out while they can it allows them to renegotiate a better deal with Liberty. Hopefully that's the case.

That makes sense, to renegotiate the contract. It's a big event and I can't see Liberty wanting it to leave. Plus it's a home race for most of the teams.

I'd come all the way there to see the look on your face if Hamilton presented it to you as well :)

The news headlines of 'Hamilton punched by crazed fan' would be worth the ticket price alone!

Reports that the man shouted 'Hashtag this you fucking twat' before punching the F1 star square on the nose were confirmed by several bystanders who were laughing uncontrollably.
