Rally Queensland was last weekend. Mixed fortunes for us, we had an excellent first day scoring maximum points in the Queensland Championship and running 4th in the Asia-Pacific field.

This was stage 5:

Unfortunately on the Sunday we had a suspension failure, meaning zero points for that section of the QRC and no finish in the Asia-Pacific round. :( Luckily it happened on a slow section of road.

Is that what they call, "suspension of disbelief"?

First one looked nice and slippery.

How is your back going?

Latest incar for those that are interested in finding out how fast our car goes:

This was a new event for everyone, up near Rockhampton, and it was the penultimate round of the Queensland Championship. Unfortunately we could only manage second place, as our Group N car couldn't really compete with a more powerful Group A Evo 6 driven by our main competitor. As you can see, the roads were super fast and straight. Our gearing and turbo restrictor really didn't suit.

So that means, with one round to go in November, we're 3 points behind in the championship. Essentially it's a straight fight, whoever beats the other in the last round will win the championship.

In the meantime though, we're heading to WRC Rally Australia next week! Woot!

Woohoo! I was wondering if you'd be at Rally Australia.

Good luck in the championship too. :)

Good work!

It'd be good to see a speedo...you guys seemed to be going really-really fast on those dirt roads.

We cracked 200km/h, which is extremely difficult for the car to achieve since it has a restrictor in the turbo which kills the power above 5300rpm. We were pulling nearly 7000rpm down the longest straights.

The drivetrain is designed for torque and acceleration, I change gear around 5200rpm and I'm in 5th gear by about 120km/h.

So how did Rally Australia go, dude? I read up on the results but it's hard to accurately gauge your performance with the different classes etc.

Thanks all!

Late night last night, so I'm pretty tired.

Short report: we were first Group N car, second Aussie (behind Atkinson in his World Rally Car). If we'd been entered in the ARC section we would have won that too.

17th overall, the only cars in front were WRC or WRC2 cars.

Really tough event, but the car was faultless, crew was great, co-driver spot on - about as good as it could get. :)
