BMW haven't lived up to the promise they showed in practice and qual. They seem to have vanished come race day.

Yeah, horrible from BMW. That Ferrari in Vilander's hands looks as dominant as the Giz did in the McLaren last year. A shame so many contenders have fallen away. That Merc doesn't really deserve to be 2nd on pace

I love these GT3 cars but they seem stupidly hard to repair. We lost 2 cars from the race yesterday that should have been half day repairs for most other categories.

Silly Giz, just a little too impatient. That corner has helped decide the last 2 races at Bathurst.

Wow, how often do you see Giz make 1 mistake let alone 2.

There's a good chance he had no oil pressure from a broken oil cooler and had to shut it off.

Shit Engel just served Giz big time.

WTF Engel, you spoilt pompous prick.

That's it bag your teammate while he's down while polishing your own helmet.

Can't disagree though, Baird was stupid hitting Lowndes at the restart then Giz blew it. However he should have kept his mouth shut.

I agree Baird should've known the rules. I also agree that Giz shouldn't of left the car in the middle of the road, hence my post.
But to bag a guy who's your teammate no less, after a driving mistake trying to win the race, no matter they probably couldn't is still disgraceful & reeks of spoilt brat.

Great win Marenello, that Ferrari was the car to beat this year.

No idea how the no.1 McLaren finished after cooking itself early in the morning.

After watching D24 & B12 the BMW M6 GT3 needs work or help with the BOP.

SVG should have known better than to park a car where he did.

After the stunt that Engel pulled at the Ring 24hr last year, which worked out well but could have so easily gone pear shaped, he is the last person to make a comment like that but heat of the moment, it can happen I guess.

18 Nanny Cars in 12 Hours....

I had the Ice Break Porsche each way for the win and on the nose for the class win so I'm content hehe.

I think the Merc pedallers including SVG were just frustrated to distraction by the lack of speed.

So I was thinking about SVG stopping at the chase, and it confused me. Cars can freewheel from skyline all the way down to the pits (frequently this is how cars are recovered after a race). He must of stopped there deliberately.

I wanted to check out the video, but supercars are hammering anything they can with takedowns :(

Entirely possible it seized up, it was a pain to even get it on the flat bed so I think it was properly stuffed and would go no further.
The recovery crew tore the (possibly already fractured) tow point off it when they first tried to stick it on the truck.

What a weekend..

We had a great time, met up with Astro and really enjoyed getting up close with such amazing machinery! We watched the start from the chase and it's incredible to see how late these cars brake. The brake glow had the kids amazed!

The access was amazing, we had a couple of kids with us and they bought model cars. Marc Lieb signed my sons Porsche 911 RS and Ivan Capelli and Dean Canto signed my mates son's Lambo Huracan!

Some thoughts
- This event is mega now. such quality field..
- WTF was Chaz doing in an AM entry? He was fast!
- The Ferrari deserved to win.. was amazing to watch Toni at the wheel.
- I lost a bit of respect for SVG.. he overdid it in the run to the finish. No excuse in ramming a car out of the way or stopping in the middle of the road. I hope he learns from this weekend :(
- I lost a bit of respect for Mario Engel.. dude, just bite your tongue!
- The Bathurst town pool is awesome way to cool off when it's 38˚

Engel: SVG comments ‘heat of the moment’
“For sure (it was a heat of the moment thing), it was not the best time to stick a camera in my face,” Engel told Speedcafe.com.
“I think if you ask Shane he will agree that he made more mistakes than he usually would do.
“Should I have said it on live television? Probably not.
“It was very disappointing. Shane is an incredible driver and great talent and we are not used to seeing those mistakes from him, maybe that is why I got so upset.
“He has apologised to me. I’m sure he feels just as sorry for the team as everyone else.
“It is just shame to end it like that because I think we put up a great fight and we got everything out of the car and it was handling really well.”

Great weekend and my first trip to Bathurst, even though it was bloody exhausting (drive over from Adelaide, 3 days in the sun and then drive back).

Glad we had a chance to catch up Pixel, I always look forward to catching up with fellow ARSE members around Australia (and hopefully New Zealand in the future).

Looking forward to going again, might take the family next time and camp at the top (I was on Mountain Straight this year).
