I would have thought it would drastically effect air into the air box.
Looking at that pic I would imagine it would send the air wake up above the intake at high speed.

Not today, just the F1 Live show.

F1 took the Live show down as soon as it was completed. Usually live YouTube castings are archived and can be watched back later, not in this case. :(

The private video here was the live stream.

Have a look around on YouTube, I think I saw some uploads yesterday that were segments of it.

I am blind so can't see any holes, whereabouts are they?
Also they'll need tear-offs or someway of cleaning the screen now.

by the way I'm now a convert of a protective screen being used & I reckon this iteration looks great. if it does what it is meant to wrt to safety then they should persist with it.

Since it looks like a visor they should just put a roof on it and paint it in the driver's helmet colours :)

Looks awkward. I wonder what effect it would have on getting to an injured driver. Maybe it'll have a quick release?

Looks ok but I still struggle to think of any recent accidents (apart from Massa's spring - which has only happened once in 75 years of racing) that this would have changed any outcome of.

Is it just me or does the screen give the cars a bit of an old school kind of look?

Zak Brown has suggested Mercedes and Ferrari are unwilling to provide McLaren with a 2018 engine because they "like us where we are".

And, in the clearest indication yet that McLaren are leaning towards sticking with their current engine partners next year, the team's executive director has also told Sky Sports "we ultimately think that Honda can get the job done".

Just like when Red Bull tried to dump Renault. I guess that means Fred will look elsewhere.

ah crap

The controversial 'halo' cockpit head-protection system will be introduced into Formula 1 in 2018, governing body the FIA has confirmed.

It said the halo "presents the best overall safety performance" after the evaluation of "a large number of devices over the past five years".

I hope they can make it look a whole lot better than the one they put on the Ferrari.

They look so shit. I guess if it really does help increase safety then that has to be more important than cosmetics. But will it really help all that much?

It is a high honour and privilege to have the job I have,” said Power.
If you had asked me 10 years ago, would I be working in Formula 1, I would have laughed at you for a very long time.
