Power unit grid penalties change announced for 2018

So essentially they stop counting after 15 and just call it starting from the back of the grid now. Same rules, just worded differently.

Haas will become Maserati next year it seems and yet no one at Maserati seems to know. Seems that Sergio Marchionne is trying to take a shot gun approach to F1.

Looks like Kubica is out of the running now, a few sources (Autosport/Planet F1) saying that Kubica and Di Resta are out and it's between Sirotkin and Kvyat now, I guess Russian money talks!

Woo! More people being offended and outraged!!!

Formula 1's new owners are looking into whether the sport should continue to use 'grid girls'.

Ross Brawn, F1 managing director of motorsports, said the use of female promotional models is a "delicate topic" which is "under strong review".

"We're trying to respect all parties," Brawn told BBC Radio 5 live.

"There's a lot of people respect the tradition of the grid girls and there's people who feel that it has become a bit dated, so we're addressing that."

WEC hasn't used them for a couple of years now and I think it should be the same everywhere. You want to give women a chance to be there not as brolly girls ect...

I agree. There's no place for grid girls anymore as we move forward. What's stopping them from adopting the ball sports style and have young up coming kid drivers/go karters etc stand by the cars?

Dont know if any of you lads listen to Formula1blog.com's podcast but they have been going thru some interesting developments in regards to the ownership of their domain and Liberty Media.
As many of you already know, we’ve been asked by Formula One Management to find another home. As I have stated before, in 2014 we relinquished our claim on the http://www.formula1blog.com domain due to trademark issues which we certainly understood at the time.

Part of that deal was that we could use the domain going forward and all content belonged to us. The intent here was that we were promoting the sport for free and I think at the time, Mr. Eccelstone felt that was a good thing.

Last week, we were asked by the new owners, Liberty Media, to cease using the domain altogether. The initial legal email was then followed up by another email from their communications director asking for a phone call to discuss the situation. Many of you have asked about that phone call and what the resolution was.

F1B is a American based Podcast but I find them one of, if not the best when it comes to an independent viewpoint on the sport. None of the cringe worthy British style BBC F1 Live or Sky Sports reporters, I even find Autosport a hard listen at times. Its great that F1B is not going to close up shop and vanish as a result of Liberty media shutting them down, its a pitty that they have done this but from a branding position I get Liberty's stance. I might not like it but I get it.

If you have no idea what this is all about, there is a write up on their site and their latest podcast goes into a bit of detail about the position they have found themselves in by using the name, Formula 1.

Funny how he loses his Red Bull drive for crashing into a Ferrari then they hand him a lifeline 2 years later.

Interesting, F1 bosses are looking changing the grid format to side by side instead of staggered to see if that gives better races (for the first 3 laps anyway). They're using eSports to simulate different grid layouts to see how they affect the race.

Didn't it move to staggered grids to avoid start line accidents?
