Apparently he did in 1987. I will investigate further tonight.

No, similar era, their careers overlapped by a couple of years.

I got the hint of the helmet, but discounted one of the drivers from that country because I was sure he had been killed in 1986...turns out I was wrong.

I won't spoil it because I had to Image search, but there's a few hints for people.

Took me a while to get the helmet hint, but I will leave it to others as I had to google to confirm the name I had in mind.
I don't know where I'm going but I'm on my way!

OK, to help things along a little?

88 GP's between 1979 and 1986 (drove for Ensign, ATS, Theodore (I thought I knew most F1 teams, but had never heard of them), Arrows, Brabham and then back to Arrows for his final year. Best results 4th at both Rio 1981 and Monza 1985. Now commentates F1 for German Sky Sport.

One more fact found in my research on him, he married not one, but two Playboy models.

Do we just allow those who found him on Google to name him so we can move on?

It was either Stuck or Surer, they were both in the ATS team.

Also Theodore racing was Teddy Yip's crew from Macau, brought the HDT to China in the early 70's, ran cars for Vern Schuppan and then bought the Shadow team and ran it as Theodore Racing for a few years.
