Board update

Postby Big Kev » Thu Nov 19, 2009 2:20 am

I've just updated us to the latest version of phpBB3.

This adds some extra widgets.

We now have a new quickreply. The old one was an addon I coded in but the new one is built in which makes things simpler for me.
We now have ATOM which is a kind of RSS feed. At the moment it's off but if anyone wants it on just let me know.
We also have a new antispam registration option so that's nice, not that we get much anyway.

Hey Kev... whats the deal with the RSS feed?

Does it work by setting up a feed per category or is it one feed for the whole forum?

If its per category/section it'd be great to have this enabled, I can then read ARSE stuff when I get stuck in boring meetings without it looking like I'm surfing the 'net on the phone.

Haven't really looked at it before.....

Ok so I can set which forums the feed comes from and the number of feeds and a few other bits and bobs.

You want me to turn on off topic and maybe the racing forum or hilari-arse or something like that to give it a try?

I reckon the Off Topic forum would be a fair test, since it has the highest turnover.

Will be interesting to see how it works.

Thanks Kev.

OK it's on.
I've now got an RSS icon in the browser bar.
Also there's info here
feed.php

I've never used RSS so hopefully all of that means something to you :D

Tis working.

It provides a list of all posts to the websites forums, so you don't get threads, but you can see the last X posts by users.

So works very satisfactorily.

Thanks Kev.
