Well, after a couple of days downtime, we are sort of back on the super highway. Albeit, with a dodgy address for the time being.

Many thanks to Kev for his excellent work migrating the database from a horribly unreliable datacentre in LA, to the new, hopefully, reliable datacentre in downtown Mumbai. :)

Once things have settled down and the DNS servers catch up, we will do a small mod on the phpBB config file which will probably mean you will all need to clear your cookies (it may not, just be careful) and then its a clear road ahead.

A bit about the new server. It has twice the storage, but only 60% of the monthly bandwidth available. This shouldnt be a problem, because even when we have a Spamfest, it rarely goes over 15gig for the month (50% of what is now available).

So thanks for your patience, and enjoy.

Why not put a meta tag auto-refresh referral to the new IP address on the old server, that way as soon as anyone uses their bookmark URL they will just get auto-directed to the new site whilst the DNS propagates?

Go to the old server and add this line to the <head> section of the html code:

Code: Select all

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="1;url=http://87.117.236.214/~norbs67/arse/phpBB/" />
