Got my tickets. Midnight screening in 3D and then lunchtime same day in 2D so bases covered.

I have my work Xmas party on the Friday :( wouldn't be too much of a problem if I just had to rock up and drink some beers but I usually help setup and organise the BBQ, and cook. Probably not going to be in a fit state the next day either. Might have to line it up for the Sunday.

It's funny TPM gets the hate but AOTC is honestly without virtue, a complete and utter piece of shit film that has soured Star Wars for me. I vitriolically hated it. ROTS was much better but could not erase the bad taste.

People are going apeshit for the trailer, but it feels the same as TPM and I just can't get excited for this. Plus side if it's awesome it will be a bonus. But if it is shit I won't be disappointed.

A bit over a day to go - excited! Premiere seems to be getting pretty positive feedback but that's to be expected.

I'm going to wait until the initial excitement dies down. Maybe see it at the end of Jan/start of Feb.

Be wary of immediate feedback. Remember how good people convinced themselves The Phantom Menace was?

It was like a psychological self-defence mechanism to protect from the reality that it was a massive steaming turd of a film.

Plot was a bit too similar to A New Hope but objectively a much better film than the prequels. Still a bit weird getting used to the new lore. Visually amazing as expected and a reasonable dose of humour that isn't just slapstick like the prequels had. But fuck me those original cast members are old now!

Exar, pretty much what I needed to say. I thoroughly enjoyed it though. Feels so foreign getting adjusted to new characters but it works and definitely many questions to ask after. Probably will watch it again in a week or so. I am very satisfied.

saw it yesterday, went in not expecting to be wowed but walked out surprised at how good it was. To the point that i think it's my favorite Star Wars movie, but i'll have to watch it a few more times to see how it holds up after a few viewings. I thought they did a perfect job of setting the story for the future and acknowledging the past. Plenty of references and characters from the originals. The story did get maybe a bit too close to the original at one point but it didn't bother me too much. I did have one or two 'holy shit i didn't see that coming' moments, both good and bad. BB8 was a mix R2D2 and WALL-E. For something without a face they did a great job of giving it emotions. I suspect Dario Francitti the greatest pilot of all time will be involved more in the future episodes.

I could rant but I'll just keep it simple lol.

I really loved it, I thought the characters were excellent. Someone has a knack for getting virtual unknown's to do a great job!

Definitely need to see it a couple more times until the excitement wears off but it seems like a win to me. It looked superb but with lots of models/puppets so it looked like the originals jacked up. That's what George had in mind with the prequels I think.

We saw it in 3d and I don't think I got to see as much detail as I would have liked so we are going again on Saturday :)

I'll give it a  Which had me laughing for about 5 minutes... (Refer woodsy post above :) )

I saw it at midnight Wednesday night, going back to see it again today to see if it survives the 2nd viewing test...

It's certainly a worthy successor of the original trilogy.

Definitely better in 2D than 3D. The 3D really brings nothing extra.

Thanks for that, not often I go to 3D these days but wasn't sure if it was worth it for this.

I make it a point to never get hyped up about movies anymore so I've kept myself pretty far removed from this movie, didn't even realise it had started already, maybe sometime next week :)

Wow. Amazing. Why couldn't the I II and III be of that caliber. Good humor, no slapstick. Amazing battles with believable cgi and not over used.

I loved kylo rens voice.
