I avoided all Star Wars stuff before going to see it. Glad I did. I enjoyed this movie a lot. Really did tick all the boxes. I reckon I'll be watching it again, easily.

Hmm well I'd put it just behind Jedi, so 4th best Star Wars film. Certainly shats all over the bloody prequels. Thank the Maker!

The Chrome Trooper was Brienne of Tarth.

+ The Stormtrooper that Rey 'tricked' was James Bond.

I saw it today and also really enjoyed it.. Very well executed and good story line.

I'd rate it above Jedi..

Are we allowed to discuss spoilers here.. Maybe another thread?

Enjoyed it and it's so much better than i feared . The humour isn't forced like the last three and the characters are believable and easy to get behind .

Great success!

PS: 3D adds nothing and if anything it detracts .

I thought that the 3D was good.. Subtle but added a sense of immersion.

Let's see if it is allowed :D

In any case, I saw the movie Saturday night, first time I've lined up for a movie in a while. I quite enjoyed it, and also the new characters. Looking forward to future iterations. (Now, let's go discuss in the spoiler thread, if allowed?!)

3rd viewing last night. Actually enjoyed it more than the first two times.

I watched it again on Saturday without 3D and liked it more. I think my eyes dislike the 3D though as I get distracted. I could easily watch it again :)

I'm very much looking forward to the spin offs. Rogue One and Han Solo origins. They've set the bar pretty high but as long as they're able to maintain the same feel they should be good.

I saw it yesterday and enjoyed it quite a lot, had more of that gritty star wars feel of the original trilogy. I guess the prequel trilogy was set at the peak of the republic so things would look newer and shinier but I think it was also the CGI that did it a bit. Maybe there's just as much CGI in this one but it's progressed since.
It also had more of the feeling from the original trilogy too I thought, I got invested in all that was happening, the fun and the tense moments.
I want to watch the next part already so it's going to be a long two year wait but I kinda don't mind that they're spreading it out. As opposed to other franchises that churn out a new one every year and even stretch a movie into two parts if they can help it.

I can't wait either. I woke up early too because of it. It's been in my life since 1979 when I saw it as an 8 yo at the drive in. :vibes:

I wish I could get into it.

grabbed the first 6 and started at IV because everyone says the "first" 3 are shite. I am nearly finished IV, after falling asleep 4 times.

I think as an adult I'd find it hard to get into as well. But because I was a kid it blew my little mind and it's always been there.

I think if you're a boy under about 15 then it's the coolest thing in the world. Trying to get into it as an adult would be much harder.

Finally a sequel post the release of Jedi (which is still marginal in my eyes), worthy of the "Star Wars" tag... :D
As much as I wanted to like the prequels after seeing this I will dismiss them as the atrocious tripe they always were. Don't bother watching 'em norbs, they are pretty irrelevant to the story from the new movie. ;)
But I'm glad I never got to marry Princess Leia, like I bet most of you are now. :p

Now time to read & add my thoughts into the Spoiler thread.

The originals certainly haven't aged well.
I remember the first time I watched Star Wars I was gob smacked at how awesome it was. I just re-watched the first 6 episodes in preparation for the new movie and it took at least a couple of weeks because I kept falling asleep.
I think it's still worth the effort to stick with it though.
