Fargo

Post by smithcorp »

Anyone catch the first 2 episodes last night on FTA (or by other means)? Most enjoyable. Martin Freeman is great in it. I've already started saying "Oh, Geez" in a Minnesota accent.

Cracking show, nothing to do with the movie at all that I can tell???

Thornton is freaking scary! He just radiates menace.

Agree - his intimidation of the cop that stopped him was believable once he asked about the cop's daughter. He's pretty good in it.

Thinking of starting this but wondering if it ties into the Movie at all...

Is the movie required watching before watching the series???

No I haven't watched the movie either - I think the TV series takes some elements from the movie but the story is different.

There are benefits to watching the movie first (it is a great movie) because there is a key tie-in to the movie which makes the TV series a sort of sequel and makes some of the tings that happen in the TV series more enjoyable.

Thornton is amazing in this - the scenes where he changed in custody from sinister evil figure to inoffensive citizen were great. Great series.

Jesus Christo! What an amazing end to a thoroughly brilliant show.

Malvo will go down as one of the great small screen bad-asses. How he nonchalantly put down his missus and friends in the elevator and how he misdirected and took out Key and Peele. Wow.

Loved how Forrest Junior was the one to take him out.

Say don'tcha know, I'm down here with Amanda's parents and their friend. I'm quietly pissing myself laughing... It's true! There's two Minnesotans in the group and I can hardly keep it together. Right now they're even talking about Fargo.

So I brought up about the local language and yep, one just handed me the "how to talk Minnesotan... A visitors guide".

Kumiko, the Treasure Hunter... No idea how much it ties into Fargo but I'm going to watch it while waiting for Season 2.
A jaded Japanese woman discovers a hidden copy of Fargo (1996) on VHS, believing it to be a treasure map indicating the location of a large case of money.
