Re: Top Gear Season 22
I felt a bit like Hammond looked as though he was thinking, damn that's my career over with.
James May always was a motoring journo so he can just carry on doing that but TG was really Hammond's big break and I'm not so sure he's going to sustain it. Must have been a massive income boost as well and that will have gone too.
I've seen rumours they might carry on under Netflix but they won't get anything like the audiences. I doubt I would pay £5/month just to get Netflix just to watch TG. And I'm sure the car manufacturers would rather they we given fair reviews in the press than let TG wreck or ruin a car.

Re: Top Gear Season 22
Yeah that clause has been reported in other articles. I can't see it stopping them. As it mentions here, if they went with Netflix, it's a U.S. station. I've even wondered whether or not it would just be ignored. Would the BBC really want to enter into a lengthy court case over it? I can't imagine the British public would take too well to seeing their tax money being used to fund it.

It is only a Non-compete clause of 2 years, for being on a rival UK broadcaster, standard contract stuff, there are ways around that..

Clarkson has been involved in his fair share of controversy, but I reckon this is a bit of a stretch to be honest. in my opinion this isn't 'homophobic'.

Just the standard easily outraged twitter group. Social media has made it too easy for people to be offended and tell the world about it. Once upon a time we just shrugged our shoulders and got on with life.

It's all in the filthy sordid minds of the people who were 'offended'. They didn't actually say anything wrong.

Just interested. Is this news over there Kev? Or is it just the Aussies looking for some outrage to report while they are visiting here?

Nope hasn't even troubled the tabloids here. They might get it in a day or two if they see it online elsewhere but they'll generally just copy the story.

Former Top Gear hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have signed up to present a new show on Amazon's streaming video service.
The trio will front three series of a new motoring programme for Amazon Prime, with the first season to be made available worldwide in 2016

Re: Top Gear Season 22
It seems Amazon has agreed to pay Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond a whopping $250 million (€226 / £159 million) for a three-year contract consisting of 36 episodes.
Unfortunately for them I suspect not many will be willing to pay out £80 a year for Amazon Prime to watch it. I certainly won't. Best bits will end up on youtube for free anyway.

And on torrents...
I would have actually signed up for netflix if they went that way.
Nice retirement fund anyway lol. Considering how mega TG was, I doubt they are super rich. A couple a million a year maybe?

Clarkson is very rich because he owned some of the rights to the Top Gear name and sold them back to the BBC a while back for a very tidy sum, in the millions.

Re: Top Gear Season 22
Former Top Gear producer Andy Wilman has revealed some new details about Amazon's show staring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Wilman said the show will be similar to Top Gear but will incorporate "lots of newness" including a "new look, new elements, [and a] new home." He went on to say the show will be launched next fall and run for three seasons that each consist of 12 episodes that last approximately an hour.
While steaming video and binge watching go hand-in-hand, Wilman suggested the show might stick a weekly release. The producer also confirmed they were won over by Amazon's "money, freedom and a love of quality."

The Amazon founder, Jeff Bezos, has admitted it will be “very, very, very expensive” to launch a new motoring show with Jeremy Clarkson and his Top Gear co-stars after signing up the controversial trio in a multimillion-pound deal following their departure from the BBC.

I don't know what Chris Evans is like, but with those 2 it could be a good show.
