Chris Harris would have almost been at the top of the list. I wonder if he gets to bring Neil the camera man with him.

I must be the only one not overly-excited with the announcement...?
Firstly Chris Evans, a comedian who has a love of cars but from what I can tell has never produced or hosted a motoring show before. Let's hope he doesn't try too hard & fluff it.
Secondly Chris Harris, didn't he hate having to be a sidekick on that US Drive show or did I read all that wrong? He is much better off staying a solo/tandem act via his youtube channel imho.
Thirdly Sabine, really??? A German on the UK Top Gear who's English is marginal at best. Umm should make for thrilling viewing. I wonder if she's going to be the first Female & identified Stig (or equivalent for the new show) so her speaking role in the show is greatly reduced..?
As for David Coulthard, I think he would have to be the pick of the crop on TV experience alone. But it will depend how they use him as I'm not so sure he will be as good when away from a race-track.
As for all shows of this nature, it'll all come down to how well they gel as a team which we won't really know till half way through next season.

I'm with you with Evans... But then, I don't know him from a bar of soap.

I'm excited for the rest though. Been saying Chris Harris for months but never really expected it would happen.

I can't wait to see how it all pans out. Both this and the new show by the old guys on Amazon.

It's shaping up to be another 5th Gear. Decent car nuts but none of them are overly funny.

Chris Evans is an accomplished TV and radio presenter. He's a bit erratic but comes up with tons of new ideas. I'll give him a fair go before I write it off :) They could have just bought up the 5th gear team, got rid of the crap and rebranded it as TG.

Former Friends star Matt LeBlanc is be one of the new presenters of Top Gear when the motoring programme returns to BBC Two in May.

The US actor will be the show's first non-British host in its 39-year history.

"Matt's a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I'm thrilled he's joining Top Gear," said Chris Evans of his new co-host.

Additional Top Gear cast members will be confirmed shortly.

It's on the BBC:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35490238

Interesting appointment. I never watched Friends so didn't know much about him until I saw him on TG. He came across as surprisingly down to earth and is clearly into cars.

He is brilliant in Episodes. :)

My biggest concern is Evans I think. On his radio show he can be a really awkward, defensive and prickly bloke at times so I'm struggling to imagine him playing this part, assuming there is going to be a bit of banter between presenters.

I still for the life of me can't imagine where they can take the format. Too familiar and it'll be compared directly, too new and it'll disconnect from the established audience. It's an impossible task.

Makes you wonder if Chris Harris or Sabine haven't worked out well in front of the camera and they've been dumped. Says on the BBC that MLB will start with immediate effect so that suggests he's needed right now, maybe to reshoot stuff.

It's going to flop. Had too many years of doing it one way and it should maybe be rebranded. The other show is going to kill it.

If american friends man replaces Chris Harris and Sabine, i'm totally out. The only way I can see those two failing, is if they are trying to make a comedy. I'd be seriously disappointed.

I'm with VT on this one. It sounds almost like a joke that friends guy would be considered. I'm pretty sure I didn't say anything when a mate of mine mentioned it the other night, thinking to myself "Nah they have already announced the line up, it will be some stupid Facebook rumour".

Having said that, I know little about this guy outside of having some memory of him being on Top Gear. I've seen the odd episode of Friends and thought it was ok'ish but not really sure why it still seems to have a cult following.

There is a lot of hanging before the trial here.

The proof will be in the pudding.

Matt LeBlanc seems to be a pretty cool dude. Could be good.

True. I'll try to keep an open mind until I've seen it. I'll be disappointed it Harris isn't in the line up though.

I reckon the first ep is gonna have a huge number of views. I'm pretty easy so will give it a season to see what direction they take it. I could never get into 5th gear because it felt like they just tried too hard. Hopefully this doesn't have that same feel and they just perform naturally

Eddie Jordan, what a joke.
I can't stand him doing the F1 podium interviews, no idea why you'd put him in front of the camera for TG.

I can't help think the BBC is clutching at straws trying to make it work.
