Enzo Ferrari (2017)

Post by J.D. »

Yep: you read me correctly. A movie on the life of Enzo Ferrari, directed by Michael Mann, is currently in pre-production for release in 2017:

Written by Troy Kennedy-Martin, whose credits include the original version of The Italian Job.

Amazingly, Christian Bale was considered for the role of Enzo Ferrari so it could end up being a real stinker...

He baled on the role as he encountered some health issues in getting to the size of the great man.

sorry

Not getting to the weight 'safely'.

The last two Michael Mann films I watched were Miami vice and Blackhat. Vice was dreary and miserable, and I switched Blackhat off after an hour because it was so fucking awful.

I can't say I've understood the praise Bale gets either. I thought the Batman films OK but pretty forgettable and his silly voice was too silly for me.

Apart from that, I can't wait!

I cannot picture an actor that could possibly tackle Il Commendatore.

DeNiro back in The Godfather day perhaps but now... Nup.

I certainly wouldn't praise him for any of the Batman films, try watching The Machinist or The Fighter

He was pretty good in Empire of The Sun too. "P-51! Cadillac of The Sky!"

But yeah his gargling gravel Bat-Voice shat me to tears.

I can't stand him. That voice isn't really his anyway. Most male voices in movies are synthesised these days.

I can't remember the last good Michael Mann film I saw either.
