Cheers Crowella, I passed your comments on, lo-fi was exactly what he was after. So he was happy you felt the same.

He has a few songs on soundcloud as well....https://soundcloud.com/sir-donald-dust

I ended up liking Not For Sale the best out of the lot but all of them were equally good. Enough for me to put it on this evening when I get home. :D

I've recently bought an MPC500, getting my head around it now, I had some success last night in transferring the beats to my computer and uploading to soundcloud.....

Have a quick listen, it is only 1:30 long, and very basic. I'm really happy about getting the whole process working, really looking forward to putting some more tunes up.

Something I whipped up last night for a competition (useless, no prize sort of comp!!) 10 samples and 1/2 hour to produce a beat....

The link is for the whole comp, scroll down for me.....Mr Dykes. Pretty interesting listening to what others did with the samples.

Thanks Neil.

I use an Akai MPC500 (sample/beat/drum machine) and I grab my samples off vinyl, which I have a shop full to choose from lol. (The beauty of owning a record store!)

After grabbing on average 5-6 samples, (which are generally between 2 to 4 seconds per sample) I start looping them via the MPC, then play it back live into Audacity (free recording software).

It's all very basic and entry level stuff, which is perfect for me at this stage.

I upload everything I create, and from start to finish is usually within 1-2 hours. My soundcloud acct is a diary of my progression. So it is good to go back to my early stuff and see how I have evolved... or really, how much I have learnt about the MPC.

Thanks for the interest. :)

Been 5 years since I uploaded to soundcloud. Nearly as long as the last post on here.

So thread revival
