Excellent article that I hope everyone at Cricket Australia reads. A one day player only at best, really guys like Shane Lee and Ian Harvey were more consistent and never had a run in the Test team, why should he be any different. The thing is with Watto, everything is about him, surely it should be about what is best for the team?

The rotation policy is going great guns. Sri Lanka bowled bloody great today and considering their injury list they did well all round. Yet we seem to worried about events in 2015 rather than now. :bang:

Strange situation. Unfortunately it makes it look like Johnson is better than he is too lol.

This is a rare oppurtunity to give as many as possible a trial and see how they fare though and in three weeks no one will remember the results, but the benefits could be felt for many years.
There is a vacuum in the team right now with Ponting and Hussey gone and so many senior fast bowlers injured. It is easy to knock the rotation idea but without it they would not of uncovered Jackson Bird so there is value, even if it means some guys get sacrificed (Quiney etc) along the way.

Good point. I bet Hussey put them into a bit of a panic.

Bird would have gotten a run without the rotation system. The injuries would have given him that chance no matter what. The rotation system sucks and always has. If they are so worried about it then don't play so much cricket through out the year. The Australian summer is really no busier that it use to be. We play a few more one day games now so maybe a return to the old triangle series will help. But now we seem to have to go to India every year for the short form of the game, then 20-20. All for money. They need to back it off and stopping jamming short series in somewhere right before our summer and let our players have a run in Sheffield Shield.

I don't see why there's a problem with the amount of games. The NBA schedule is a hundred times more intense and the game is also a hundred times more intense.

I read an article asking whether the focus on muscle buildup, rather than flexibility was the cause? Interesting idea.
Kareem Abdul-Jabaar played 20 seasons in the NBA, as a centre, and still looks like he could give you 14 and 8 (pts and rbnds) - and he is heavily into yoga - conincidence?
Look at the stretches Morne Morkel was doing before he bowled and how flexible he is! He seems pretty durable. I also remember him landing awkwardly one delivery and rolling an ankle, but was able to continue. I imagine Watson or Pattinson would of been out for weeks.

The trouble is with playing lots of games is, fast blowing is a very un-natural thing to do. Charge in to the crease and stop dead to deliver the ball. So rotating out bowlers seems like a good idea but the other side of the coin is you need to bowl to get in form.

What a brilliant display of swing bowling Sri Lanka are putting on today. Our guys have no fucking idea on how to play this. Kulasekara is putting on a real show! :)

Plan A - Attack
Plan B - Counter Attack
Plan C - Try plan A again

Probably not the best idea against a swinging ball. 10th wicket partnership puts on a few when Kula has bowled his 10 overs.
Obviously needed some paitence but that has been in short supply for 10 years now.

Upon looking at the replays (was only going off reading Cricinfo and the radio commentary before)......
That was some absolutely awesome bowling, damn near unplayable.
I have never, ever seen a cricket ball swing like that unless a Pakistani and a bottle top was involved. That was a taped up tennis ball type swing.
Hussey, Bailey, Henriques, even Clarke did not do much wrong, just got knocked over by big, late swing and very accurate to.

Was nice to see Clarke really pissed at the end though, hopefully some guys will get a rocket after that, especially with the fielding, twas shit and has been shit for a while.

Who made Mahela Jayawardena king of the world? What a fucking little sook. Glad he is fucking off and never coming back. Obviously uses the rule book for dunny paper like his fat arse predecessor Ranatunga.
Sick of these sub-continent players running their mouths and then playing the race card whenever the Aussies respond in kind.

I thought it stank that they were pushing for play to end. What about the millions of fans wanting to watch a game of cricket and not sit around till 11pm watching you whine at the umpires.

It was no wonder there was a bit of angst at the end.

And Kulasakera stood on the rope so I reckon Australia won. Why else would he panic and throw the ball away and not toss it up to re-catch it?

Yeah it looked like it to me. Do you think they asked the question upstairs? Didn't seem like they deliberated long enough.

Taken from a Fox Sports article on Cricket Australia investigating players with illegal actions:

Samuels did not bowl for a chuck of last year's Indian Premier League after being reported by international umpires Aleem Dar and Bruce Oxenford.

So, an accident or is someone having a laugh? Was obviously supposed to be chunk, but..........

Was good to see Watson going mad after getting his hundred. Shame he couldn't have kept it going for the 150.
