People expecting them to get out of the group were delusional. Saying they played better than we expected them to is not. We should have been hammered more than we did but Australia fought pretty well although I'm disappointed we dropped a bit with Spain.

I knew we wouldn't get far and I thought our best chance to win was against Chile. I'm a bit surprised by the Dutch game as they should have spanked us like Spain did.

Nobody surprised to see England go out too then? :D

No, nor me, although I thought we might at least scrape a draw somewhere. Miserable tournament.

We DID scrape a draw. :)

I think expectations were low for England this time round. Trying out several young players, only a couple of older stalwarts still in the team. I just hope they can push on with this rebuild rather than just continue the usual humdrum side.

Oh yeah. I forgot about the last game. I gave up watching it because I realised I value my happiness more than that.

England's woes aside, I've really struggled to watch this world cup even though it's had some cracking games. I've got to the point where I can't be arsed putting up with them throwing themselves onto the floor at every opportunity. It seems to be so much a part of the game now that it constantly interrupts the natural flow. It's evidently now a required "skill" that you can use to force the game to come to you.

I realise that motorsport often comes down to who is the best at "interpreting the rules", but when cheating is found at least it's usually punished.

Cant believe how lenient the ban was. Should be gone for a minimum of 2 years.

Brazil vs Chile... That game kept me on the edge of my seat and for it to end the way it did was heart breaking.

I haven't seen the highlights yet but I watched the last quarter of the game and Brazil were just out on their feet. I guess 4 goals in 6 minutes will break your spirit.

This was on Reddit just now....
