They were just too far off the screen while I was following the trailing car. We really need to sort out some kind of judging system that can accomodate this. Personally I think the judges should be allowed to replay the race from both views if need be (but only if need be). Shorter layouts and having only two people on the track at any one time will help of course. I just had to make a hard and fast rule to suit the circumstances and unfortunately, speed is a requirement and dropping back (usually through driver error) far enough for the lead car to be out of the field of view is a pretty large sign of the way things are going.
if we run layouts there will be no need for a parking bay, because as soon as u pit out, ull be at the start point.

this means the judges only have to press tab to alternate between drivers, as there will never be more than 2 drivers on the track at once(everyone else will be spectating). A downside of this though is that drivers start each run with new tyres and no damage, but i personally dont htink thats a bad thing.

Well, why dont we just do what we did last time...

Two runs, coming back manually each time (ie. no pitting).

Then after a winner is decided, they both spectate.

Next two come into play at teh start point?

After watching the replays I believe that the 'follow cam' is much better than the shift-u 'top down' method.
I also believe that we should never have any more three way battles .... ever.

Yep, with the layouts there will be start gates, so everyone can spec and join when asked, and they will be right before the section they need to drift, and like Tofuboi said you will need to drive back for the second run.

Still need a new gfx card, so I havnt looked @ the setups yet.. putting a tnt2 in now.. lets see how it runs :\

I'm running a GF4MX and it isn't fast enough :/

Running simple wheels and knocking back the detail makes it bearable, but even then with a grid of about 5 or 6 cars in front of you the framerate drops between 15-20 FPS. Not fun :)

geforce 4mx would indeed be fast enough, on a p4 2.0 the difference between swapping my gf4mx to a 6600gt was about 5fps. CPU is the key.
It's been nice, chaps.

Really? I'm the one who posted the GF4MX post and I have an Athlon XP 2400+.... Is everyone having FPS of about 20 when there's a decent grid in front of them? Be interesting to know, because I'm thinking of upgrading soon and want to know if it is worth it.

I went from a ATi Radeon 8500LE 64MB on an AMD AthlonXP 2700+ and got about 30fps...

Went to an ATi Radeon 9600XT 256MB on the same system, I now get 95fps...

well i cant speak for the others but for me:

p4 2.0 GF4MX440 = ~40fps alone, ~10-20 with a pack of cars
6600gt added about +5fps onto these figures

then:
p4 3.2 with the 6600gt ~110fps alone, 40-50 with a pack of cars
It's been nice, chaps.

Well we had our first competition the other day, which Gusto won, and I came last being knocked out first.

But just stick around and I guess things will get good. :)
