GT Legends Lan in Perth.

Post by Speed »

We're holding our next lan on Saturday, January 21st.
GT Legends will be the weapon of choice.
Haven't worked out the finer details yet, but we'll prolly use TC65 cars & do shorter races on the medium size tracks.
I'll be posting messages on ASRG & SWIS & depending on how well the server works in testing, might invite some extra's to join online.
Nominations via this thread or email wjoyce@iinet.net.au.

We'll definitely post photos & race results.
Lan will start around 1:00 WA time & at this stage we'll probably do a half dozen 15 or so lap races with a small break in between each, (during which I'll set up praccy for the next event anyway.
We'll stop around 6:00-6:30 for an hour or so & WTF, have a BBQ.
Points over the 6 races will accumulate, dropping the worst round.
Then prolly about 8:00 or 9:00 well just start doing 5 lap non championship races with little or no qually until we've had enough.
We already have about 10 nominations & couple of guys from ASRG have said they want to join online if we don't have a full house.
I reckon the server & connection will handle 22. We should receive our new modem & router this week & be able to upgrade to ADSL2+, then I'll have more idea.

( Rough draft only, I need to look at lap times & do a proper schedule).

Just for interests sake here's a link to a Lan report that we had last year.
http://members.iinet.net.au/~wjoyce/lan/lan120305.html
We've had 3 lans but were too lazy to do a report for the last one.
The GTL lan will definitely be reported on though. :)

Took me 4 years of marriage just to get a FF Wheel and a copy of LFS :D

Just kidding Hamal, just come along for a look & meet some fellow sim racers, you don't have to be racing yourself.

Lan Format - Sat, Jan 21st

6 x 15 lap races, 30 mins Qually, 10 mins practise - TC 65 cars
Magny Cours National
Nuerburgring Sprint
Donington National
Hockenheim Short
Zolder
Dijon Prenois short

Points will be
1st - 20
2nd – 16
3rd – 13
4th – 11
5th – 10
6th – 9 etc. down to 1

Races will be broadcast on the lobby (but passworded) so that players can join via the net.
If we have any problems with lag or connections we will revert back to lan only, so don’t plan your day around it if connecting by internet.

We have 10 lan entries at the moment & 2 internet entries, & we’ll accept up to 22 players all up.
Lan entries will come first of course.

Racing will commence at around 1:30 Perth time .
We should be able to fit in about 4 races before we stop for about an hour at 6:30 ish for a BBQ.
7:30 have the next 2 races & if we’re not all played out by the end of that, we’ll do a series of 5 lap fun races at shorter tracks like Smondello, Junior Monza etc. that won’t count towards the championship.

We had some connection issues in our race tonight, so I won't be opening up the lan server for online entries. Sorry.

Tried to figure out if I could obtain a copy in time, but it looks like I'll be just shy of the mark. Think I might stick to LFS with its rock-solid netcode. Online play is a major pre-condition in my books.

No worries guys,
We hold lans about every 3 months, so prolly in about 6 weeks or so, I'll post the date for the next one. We probably still have room for another 3 & I've just taken another entry about 5 minutes ago.
Let me know. We're in Leeming by the way.

Fantastic read, looks like everyone had a blast.
Give us notice before the next one and I'll notify a few of the
Austeam Racing guys over there as they're usually up for a bash.
