GTR2

Post by Fast_Company »

Just wanted to say that over the last month or so I have returned to online racing after a 2 year lay off. A small group of us get together on Tuesday nights for GPL and then on Wednesdays for GTR2, last night we ran NGT's at Monaco 79'... what a top night! 3 races in the NGTs and just to finsh we had a run in the G3's, everyone went for the Vertigo or the BMW and there was giggles and snickering when I chose the Viper :) I managed 2nd fastest quallie and got on the front row beside Blues.. at race start I smoked him off the line and held a steady gap for about the first 5 laps.... then with tires like hot mashmellows I started to slip back into Bluesmans clutches.. the fight to the line was desperate to say the least, but in the end I got home by about 2/100ths of a sec. great racing.

this is for you Dave.

cheers, Johnno

Oooo what server are you running GTR2 on? XGN? I should get off my arse and do the occasional race in that game. My copy is still sitting on the shelf in its plastic wrapping! :tilt:

Mick, a man with your talent that sits on his A.R.S.E. and doesn't race should be "SHOT WITH A BALL OF HIS OWN SHYTE"! I'll PM you now.

Is this worth getting, I loved the first...

But my gaming time is severly limited these days... child, courses up the waazoo and I have just bought some new toys...

I love LFS, but GTR always did it for me...

GTR2 is definalty worth getting. It's the one sim that does it for me at the moment, i loved GTL but GTR2 is better in my opinion.

GTR2 isn't worth the time or money personally. i played it for a total of 4 hours then took it back.

don't think ill be purchasing anymore Simbin games. they're a bunch of hypocrits, they made their start by modding another game with copyrighted material. but won't allow it to their own games.

Where does someone from Simbin explicitly say that they don't allow it? If you had the commercial rights to something would you let people take it and put it in other games? At least GTR2 itself is open & moddable so they haven't exactly made it hard for people who want to do stuff with their game do whatever they want.

Sin - GTR2 is an excellent single player game. Probably the best all-round sim to date in that department. Online it still suffers from the same old Simbin troubles (although it is a decent improvement on the original) though so it depends what you're after.

GTR2 imho is not too bad but not that good either. Theres' a physics update for it somewhere (unofficial) it makes it much more believable too. Yet I'm still into GTL. Somehow GTR2 did not feel right. It's beautiful, well presented as usual...just somehow did not tick.
So just get it, try it and if you don't like it sell it as I did ;)

I agree, I find GTR2 To be a fantastic game, but online REALLY suffers, so basically it got 4-5 hours of single player game time, and now sits in my pile of useless games with potential but poor development (right next to all the battlefields)

GTR2 works a treat on Vista, especially now Nvidia have caught up with some decent drivers.

back on topic.... :D

I got GTR2 today and I cant believe how well it runs on my system!
Running 1920x1200, DX9, details set to high - it's so much smoother than rFactor or GTL.....
Good fun too :)
