Just had a window come on screen for "Get Windows 10" on the Computer.
Saying to reserve your Free* upgrade now. * being a 3GB download.

Running Win 7 on this pc.


Anyone else got this message?

I've heard these are popping up. The official date isn't until July though I believe so this must be a staggered release.

Yep, this could have been mentioned in the recent Keynote. I think you've got 12 months to decide if you want a free (full copy) of Windows 10.

Funnily enough, just booted up my Win7 machine at home and I have the message too. I'll certainly be upgrading. I quite like 8.1.

From what I've read, if you get the offer it's free window 10 with full support. It's in response to the complaints about 8 and 8.1

Might have to grab if/when I get the offer. I take it a hell of a lot of people will jump on board. Most people do with apple iOS and OSX releases because of the way they launch them. Seems this is similar. I usually wait a good 12 months for windows releases to see how it goes, and wait for patches and fixes. But with the massive release in this way, hopefully those patches and fixes come along much faster. Good move by Microsoft I reckon.

I'll try it in WVM and wait for the rest of the community to sort the issues out cos im a lazy selfish kent.
Ive only just made the jump from Win7 to 8.1 a few months ago

Yeah I have skipped Win 8 Completely. A lot of people did.

Been using 8/8.1 since launch. Haven't had an issue.

All windows 7 and 8 and 8.1 users get a free update to windows 10 even if you pirated windows. C=

Anyone know if i can pre load this and store it on an external hdd, then once all the quirks are ironed out in 12 months time install it then?

Yeah I jumped into 8.1 around september. Not bad. Once I installed a Start menu.
