Got me some $$$$ for a new puter.... help!
Sooo, I just sold a piece of VW history for some $$$$. I have also donated my current pc (dinosaur) to my daughter....
I have $3000 to spend. I need "everything", ie, case, cpu, gpu, monitor, keyboard, mouse, headphones, operating system etc....... DayZ is my drug, and as far as I know it is CPU heavy..... would really appreciate some help boys! I reckon I could build this myself, but need guidance with details.
Many thanks in advance.

Might be worth taking a look at pccasegear's systems?
If you want to build it yourself, you can just order all the parts from the list. I don't think the build cost much and you get a bit of a warranty out of it.
$2100 gets you a system with an OS ready to go. You just need to add a monitor, keyboard mouse and headphones.

Good option Righty. Looks like shipping would add an extra $100. Warranty and peace of mind would be nice with a pre-built...

There are a few GTX 970 builds there to take a look at. I'd probably order an extra thing of RAM too. I'm not sure 8gig is really more than minimum spec these days.
When you add the cost of all the parts up, it's $2021, so the cost for the build is pretty good.
Those systems are pre built, so you can't change the specs, but they might just be a good place to start to see what you can get for the money.
You could probably do the CPU cooler cheaper and ditch the case lights which might save you a hundred bucks, plus without the build cost you've got an extra 170 to spend.

Im building a system for a family friend this week.
I7 6700
Gigabyte ga h170-d3h
16gb gskill 2133mhz ddr4
Gigabyte 970 g1 gaming
Gold rated psu
Mid tower case
Ssd and hdd
Comes to $2000 even.
You could go a bit harder and maybe get a 980 and have enough left for the peripherals

I reckon with some creativity you could make it to a 980ti. Maybe...
If you keep case, CPU and cooler to a modest level and stick to a 1080p monitor, you could future proof a bit better with a 980ti.

I'm a big fan of Gigabyte UD gear (ultra durable) my old system was donated to a mate after 5 years. After a gfx card upgrade he's gaming away fine. The system still going strong. Same can be said for my old housemates system. All UD gear. And the current rig I'm using is the same. About 1.5 years old at the moment.
CPL also has pre builds which I'd believe have a warranty. They are super good to deal with these days too should anything go wrong. I'd think it has a lot to do with the new ACCC laws. Businesses really can't afford to mess you around anymore.

Yep, 980ti for sure.
Then perhaps look at one of the g sync monitors too for that cash.

I my current system build at http://www.scorptec.com.au and it's pretty funky to see the packing foam around the water cooling when it arrived.
If you ever want to upgrade the GPU though, 600 watt PSU is ok but 750 would be better. Mine is 775 watts. Just gives me some head room for when I do upgrade the graphics. Most of the cheaper GPU's work fine with 600 watts though.

Re: Got me some $$$$ for a new puter.... help!
New system is ordered and being built as we speak.
Thanks for the tips guys, in the end, I had to reduce my budget, as some of the money was absorbed into my business, meh
Very similar build to Timmys post, and I went with Scorptec and mostly gigabyte gear, couldn't stretch it to a 980ti, so 970 it is.
Really wanted some decent peripherals, but in the end, went ultra cheap keyboard/mouse, HyperX cloud headphones (semi decent), and a great/older/cheaper monitor. I figure these things can be upgraded at a later point.
Very much looking forward to its arrival, it's been a long time between drinks!

You'll be happy.
I was going to post about those headphones, I've got a set of those for when I need closed back headphones. I've been really happy with them.
970 will be great and you've always got the option to plonk another one in there when you want more POWA!

So does this mean you're going to be plinking innocents at NWAF even faster than before Q-man?

Not much. I have a run around every now and then in whatever the present iteration of the code is, mostly to check out the new map locations.
