My web host seems to be down

Post by smithcorp »

I have my web hosting with hostinginsiders.com for www.smithcorp.com.au. However, I can't access my site, or theirs, and this site (http://downuptime.net/hostinginsiders.com.html) seems to suggest it's been down for about 2 weeks!

So, two questions:

1. Any suggestions for webhosting forums or websites where I might be able to check on latest news from other users - see if they've gone out of business?

2. What's the procedure for changing web hosts?

cheers, smith

ps - of course I didn't back anything up...

Sure it's not something on your end? I can access both those sites.

Both sites appear to be working for me.

If you do want to change hosts, it's not too difficult at all given it's a cPanel host, cPanel has backup tools in it you can use to transfer to another cPanel host.

I just moved a vbulletin forum from one host to another and I pretty much used the video below to get the job done.

Most of my hosting is with panthur.com.au, they even have a service where you provide them with cpanel access with your old host, and they will do the transfer for you (including all email settings and data, etc).

Having said that, it's not all that difficult to transfer your site and emails form one host to another if you know how, I'm happy to help if you need it.
