Nice review of a number of games for comparason.

It's not the card I wanted, but I have grown impatient trying to find any information regarding the partner cards. This was a bargain for me, I had to service 5x vehicles air conditioning. That bought me two 1080's. I just installed the second one in SLI config, turns out to be a beast of a rig when in SLI. That should limit the throttling issues on the FE card somewhat. Now we just need more support for SLI.

Now I have to finish these bikes so I can have my garage back and get racing.

That's a lot of power dude. I'm a little confused how you got impatient when you say you can't even use it at the moment :fall:

You'll be set for a few years of solid gaming with that rig though.

Impatient waiting for news. These fell in to my lap so to speak, doing jobs for a mate, for one of his mates. He has an Asus Strix 1080, which has a faster clock than these reference cards. He didn't mind parting with these MSI reference cards for the work I was doing and gas and filters cost me bugger all for the service.

I can use it, it's setup in the lounge room. I just can't race on it because the wife needs the desk and I have no room to put the cockpit out in the garage. I haven't asked her whether I can put the cockpit in the lounge room, that might be an option on race nights :D

Does light up the firestrike benchmark well. Also AC in 4k on the TV is wild, but I only did the benchmark and watched one replay. Yet to plug the rift in, maybe tonight or tomorrow.

That said, I will only keep one of the cards. One is enough to power what I need, the other one I will put in a pc for my brother

Rift is something else on this card. Not in the tech demo's, much the same. But in AC, it's next level how smooth it is...

Shut up you

Hopefully the 1070 isn't too expensive, should be a good upgrade from my 960

If you watch the 1070 benchmark video wobbly tested the 1070 initial RRP = $379 USD & $449 USD for the FE. So expect it to be around the $550-$600 AUD mark.

So how high can you set pixels per display pixel? I'm guessing 2.5-3.0 range. Would be interesting to know at what point you stop noticing visual improvement.

If that's even close to a ballpark figure, i'll be happy.

Will be significant I imagine. Was the card I was going to use if I didn't get these two MSI reference cards. Will drive a rift no sweat, but I am going off the hype here.

I set it to 1.5, didn't think to try any higher but I didn't really have time to do much today. Set up AC, removed a graphics card to test some things out, set up the rift again in the lounge room and the single card drove the rift as well as output to my TV in 1080p without a single stutter. And this is a factory set card. Can't do 4k to the tv with the rift plugged in, even when not in use. A restriction of the display port cable I am using. Looking in to that tonight, seems odd that the card would come with 3 display ports, 1 x hdmi and 1 x DVI and not be able to output in 4k through the DP.

If you lived near me Darren I would be happy to lend you one of the 1080's for a test for a few weeks to try it out. My little brother doesn't want it now, he's gone to a iMac desktop #deadtome

I'd ask how much, but after buying a newer car recently my budget is stretching as far as it can for a 1070 :(

Assetto Corsa has always been a shitfest with dual GPU. The 590 card I got off Righty was good at times and shite at others. A lot of people still complain about SLI in AC. I think I recall Stefano saying it is really hard to implement for some reason.
