Some Info regarding Pedals...

You're right, it's not really Logitech's fault with the momo racing pedals.

It's not only about the natural wear and tear of the pots, but moreso the dust and grime that gets in them. I'm willing to bet that most people that have major problems with their momo pedals early on are using them on thick carpet which adds dust, or has a house prone to dust.

After pulling my pedals apart and cleaning the dust out from inside it didn't quite fix them, but 2nd time around I took the pot out of the actual pedal and gave it a better clean. The problem has been fixed for a month or 2 now with no problems. My pedals live on a wooden floor and have very little dust in the house (used to have more of a dust problem and pedal problems with a thick rug in the room).

Logitech Momo Force (red) wheels have a reputation of being solid wheels with no pedal problems. But why? The dust can't get in them cause the pedal plugs up the hole when sitting dormant. Pic

it's logitechs fault for using silly pots when they could go with optical sensors, far as I'm aware. the saitek wheels run optical sensors, but the wheels themselves are apparently pretty average...

hmm, your scaring me, does this mean that i spent $200 bucks on this and it's gonna die?

But if you blokes are talking about these pedals i have a 12 month warranty so i should be safe.

momo = certain death of pedals usually between 6-8 months of reasonable use....theres a nice thread somewhere where people express their "appreciation" for the momo and logitech

Well aslong as it happens before 12months im happy

I'll go back and get another one..... then go back.... and i'll keep saving for a DFP.... or does that have the same problem?

ive been using mine for 2.5 years already
only problem is one of the brake pedal's spring has snapped and that was 6 months ago. If you do the paper mod to the pedals..and use the latest 4.6 drivers, you should be fine

i got mine when they first came to Aus.. and i have had no problems what so ever.. i do agree to the post above tho.. about dust and other muck getting into it

also .. about the wheel unit .. i unlike most others (there are the few) use 100%FFB and i havent had any problems at all .. playing all sorts of racing games arcade or sim

edit : .. i do emend .. i have seen people that treat there equipment like crap and there the one that are most like to brake somthing and bitch .. treat it good it will last you

regardless of how good you treat it, a pot will eventually fail...

just the nature of the beast... words from my uncle with about 20+ years as a sparky... i asked him to test my momo pots, and then replace them with something that runs the same but will last longer...

He showed me some in Jaycar. They will do the trick, so if your worried goto Jaycar with your pots and explain to them you want something alittle more robust.

But they will fail... eventually

i still love my mate kingswood .. never been serviced and runs like a dream and it is very fuel efficient even better then some new cars ..but still.. you get a lemon now and again new or old..

my momo = 14 mths old. going well no problems. (touch wood)
it is used for a few hours, 'most nights'
i think that if you treat things well they will last.
if you treat your gear like a trampoline then it will break.
i caught my bro in law putting super petrol in his unleaded lawnmower..
i said fuck fuck fuck you will break it. he said...
"if it cant do what i want it to, then it is no good and i will replace it
when it breaks".
this seems to be a comment sentiment these days.

You paid $200 for them? crikey, like the money shot "THEY SAW YOU COMING"

you can pick them up on average for around the $150 mark, and in some places even as low as $119. but generally online and around the place, $150

I agree with you about treating your belongings with care and greatly extending their life but with the Momo pedals being plastic it's only a matter of time before they wear. The electrical tape fix is easy and works well but something all steel like the A1's is the way to go, if you can spare the dough of course

Ditto, I've had mine for a few months longer than Steve and about one month ago a brake pedal spring broke... right now I use half a tennis ball to add some resistance to the brake pedal, somewhat dodgy but works

When I can get off my arse I'll get a squash ball

My pots haven't gone out of calibration ever since updating the driver nearly 2 years ago. My pedals are on carpet and when I pulled them apart a month ago they were also full of cat hair

My Momo's have started playing up. Took them a part and it even had insects in it

Tape courtesy of CLP has done the short term trick, but tried A1's and they're definitely the go!
