Windows bootup problem

Post by spoonsports »

Ok guys, i have a windows bootup problem and it isn't hardware

I run Win2k SP4.

The problem is, during bootup, the splash screen gets stuck on 3/4 when i boot up normally. If i start on safe mode, it works...but at the end of the loading, my screen becomes very strange...like it's corrupted...but then windows pops up and i can login. However i can't click on anything but task manager pops up fine.

The only way i can get it to boot up is booting it from last known good profile...

Now when i boot up using this, nero finds that my cdrom drivers are corrupted and nero apparently corrected this. But last boot up from this option also produced this message. I've run spyware scans and right now is scanning for virus' using housecall by trendmicro.

Anyone else had such symptoms and can suggest anything i could try?
