..so which ones are you getting?

I have the z680's and they crank!!!

I thought the z5500's were the cheaper ones.

Well, i got around to having a look at the logitech site...

The 5500's have a much nicer looking volume control. Other than that, they appear to be essentially the same thing (as the 680's).

The box is huge hey?! Hope you enjoy them as much as I have :P

Can you listen to them?

It's a speaker. Size does not matter usually. Looks may or may not matter - user dependant :).
But the sound does, that's the most and probably the only important part.

So try and get a demo of it. That's the only real way to tell what is it like.
Although if they don't have a demo area, and especially a demo unit already burnt in you won't get the real sound out of it.

I wonder, as these are fairly expensive things (for a computer speaker - how much are they after all?), are they any good sound-wise?
And how do they deal with the usual noise coming out of the computer sound outputs? Or do you have some high quality sound card which has shielded parts ?
Do they ship proper speaker cables with this one?
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

i paid $400 there and then kinda stupid not to research but i got a job so i feel like im running with unlimited cash for a while :p

basically i wired it all up to my shitty 4.1 soundcard so i run centre, sub and 2 fronts now but audigy 2zs is on its way as i type so i fire up winamp and nothing happened i was like ugh what, so i changed setting with the digital reciever and i dunno it then finally kicked in, and now it works great, i havent been home alone to fully test it for long i was home by myself for a few mins but it was fairly early so i didnt want to crank it being sunday, but it shakes my window and the roof and the wall lol, i can stand int he lounge room which is the oposite end of the house and feel it thumping the floor
gonna mount up all the speakers when i get me audigy 2
got a couple of pics

Dude, in such a small space, those things will crank!!!

I paid $650 for mine probably almost 2 years ago.... so for $400 they're a bargain!

I remember seeing a Harvey Norman ad last year advertising them for $899. I laughed.... poor consumers.

The quality does seem fairly high. My only gripe is the standard speaker wiring included.... they're pretty thin considering the 60 watts RMS (max) which goes through the satellites. I can't say whether the quality is better for changing the standard wiring (which is easy enough), but I feel a lot more comfortable. :) People on audio forums say it improves quality... but meh. Placebo effect most likely :P

About $1.50 /metre should get some good enough quality wire... better than standard and considerably thicker. I think that's about right anyway.
