Fovean needs to happen. The advantages could be huge.

Firmware V2 is due out in January as far as i know.
True Auto Iso with exposure compensation in manual mode will be awesome for outdoor event photography.

The main thing that excites me is the exposure compensation when using Auto Iso in manual mode, which will be really handy when I'm shooting stuff like Motocross & I want to control the shutter & aperture settings while I'm tracking a bike traveling into shadows.

Canon EOS-1D X Firmware 2.0.3 Features

Improved AF performance in low light
Better AF before shutter release in AI Servo mode
More release priority options to choose between AF speed and accuracy
More options for fine-tuning AF tracking
Minimum shutter speed setting in auto ISO mode expanded to 1/8000 sec.
Manual exposure compensation in M mode with auto ISO
Auto exposure compensation in M mode upon aperture change
AF-ON and * buttons can be customized to select various AF settings
New AF point selection options
New options for AF point switching upon camera orientation change
Option to view protected images only in playback

Yeah I saw that... there's also better support for cameras with variable aperture (will come in useful for my 100-400L). Pretty cool it can compensate for that. Although when you think about it, i'm quite surprised that doesn't happen on the consumer DSLR's as well. Unless it does, and I've just never seen that feature.

PS. Whats with Canon still not offering EOS utility etc on their site for download... only the updaters? It's always so irritating when I occasionally need it, and can't find my disc anywhere... not that it would have helped a whole lot, I needed to install it on my Macbook Air. Found a pretty simple hack for it though... remove one file from the updater and it just runs as the installer.

New firmware released for 1Dx and 5D3. Looks fairly minor but I thought I'd give a heads up.
