Not 100% on this yet, but the default prosilver skin seems a fair bit quicker at loading that the ARSE skin, can someone else do some comparisons?

Things should speed up once the files are cached. Default prosilver doesn't have the quick reply but I can add it is you want. It also doesn't have the banner image but on a speedy connection that shouldn't make much odds.

Re: teething problems?
Now it seems ok, don't worry about it, looks like I got another crappy route to these forums causing random speed issues.
Awesome little feature I just spotted, was writing a reply to woodsy's post, then kev posted while I was on the reply screen, rather than my reply being posted, it returned to the post screen showing the quoted bit below with kevs new post below it.

Arrggh, now woodsy has posted, I may never get to post.Post review.

Some people like that and some hate it. It allows you to adjust what you've written based on what you've missed being posted while you were writing.SHoNKY wrote:Now it seems ok, don't worry about it, looks like I got another crappy route to these forums causing random speed issues.

It can work well in some circumstances, like the support site where you dont end up repeating something already said. But some people hate it cos they don't realise their post hasn't gone through and they close the window and lose what they typed. It can be turned on/off in the admin if people hate it.

Re: teething problems?
an interesting one Vilante found, when you click a link, it opens the page in the same window/tab not in a new one. I must admit i prefer it to open in a new tab.

For a temporary fix, click on any link with your middle mouse button (that opens up in a new tab at least)Hz-Lab wrote:busy.... ahahaha, probably comparing more text boobies..

It's built to XHTML standard. That's how it should be. For instance if you click a link on a google search it opens in the same window.w00dsy wrote:an interesting one Vilante found, when you click a link, it opens the page in the same window/tab not in a new one. There is a MOD if you want it.
I just tend to middle click as plastik8 said.

Yeah I'm not sure why yet. I've set everything to exactly the same as it was on the old board. I'll investigate further later.

Re: teething problems?
I'm having a problem with the icons. Like 3 out of 5 males I am red green colour blind. Normally causes no issues but in this case I can't actually tell whether or not someone has posted or not. It looks to me that the icons change to red when someone posts but its super hard for me to see it. Is there a way I can change that in my profile?
Other then that the new arse looks good.

Re: teething problems?
we did mess about with some new icons but they looked a bit cartoonish. I don't think you can change the icons unless you change to a different style, but our arse theme is the default prosilver icons so it'd be pointless going to the default prosilver theme.

Re: teething problems?
Yeah I'd have to make a new style with new images.
I can have a look at making the new topics ones a bit more red if that helps.
Alternatively, at the top of the index is a link saying 'View new posts'. This is how I read the forum. It lists all the topics with a new post since you were last here.

That's a bit too much, I think it may be closer to 3 in 50 .... so you don't drive then? Or can you tell the traffic lights ?Righteous wrote:Like 3 out of 5 males I am red green colour blind.

Re: teething problems?
by the way...
is there any way to change the forum (settings?) to show the subforum along the thread title in the 'new threads' list ? IIRC the old one used to; helps a bit to see what's what.

Nope. I think they wanted to put more emphasis on the topic, not necessarily where it was.ysu wrote:by the way...

there's also a little box next to the icon that displays the first unread post if you click it. You'll be able to tell from that as well as the color of the icon.
