Now this is weird, put the phone in my windscreen mount, touch input ceases to function. :wtf:

Going to have to roll back to my recovery firmware to see if it is the same, but it's never done this before, it usually sits in the holder whenever I drive performing gps duties.

It was fun while it lasted, back to XWKK2, all the touch sensitivity and cpu locking issues I had disappeared after the roll back, shall wait for the official release before looking again I think.

one day I will leave my phone alone. Seriously..

Think ill stay away from CM7 now, its to painfull. When i tried installing lite'ning rom on to it it failed. then odin wouldnt even install XI3 onto the phone. Whats odd though is im currently installing XI3 on my WinXP laptop and its working. wouldnt work on my win7 machine. since installing CM7 on my phone last time i have had USB issues since. when i want to put MP3's on the phone i had to load it into boot menu and select usb that way. Stupid thing.

And one big bug that makes it almost completely unusable

Something to do with the keyboard locking it up completely.

That got fixed pretty quick by the looks of it, there are a few other bugs that are putting me off judging by the thread.

A mate of mine informs me the official ics rom for Europe has been released and is available to install through Kies for the SGS2.

Guess that's what defines a geek these days, those that root their phones and those that don't. :D

So after having just come out of the dark ages and turfing the Crackberry down to my daughter, I've gone out and acquired an SGS2. Now, running it stock is just not an option, as I'd rather get in there and find out what makes shit tick.

Can someone give me a brief rundown on exactly what I need to do to root/ROM this badboy up? Running 2.3.5 at the moment, and I'm clueless as to where I should start.. just root it, root/ROM it, update to ICS, or wait until my carrier releases their ICS update?

Comments/ideas gratefully received.

If you wait for your carrier, you'll probably be dead by the time they release ICS

I'm sure i have read that both Telstra and Optus already are already testing ics and will probably be not too far away, but ics is not all that great just yet in my opinion, after using it for nearly a week now I am noticing some odd things here and there that never happened with gingerbread, the maturity will come no doubt, just don't expect perfection.

Anyway, head to the link below to get you started, it all seems quite daunting at first, but after some reading you should be right. Got any question, just ask, someone should have the answer.

Midway through the bricking of the phone, scared as fuck, coz it's failed twice now.. but I've backed up everything before I started, so worst case scenario, I'm back to standard I guess.
Will post more as it goes.. if it goes.. should it go at all..
