Latest and Greatest

Post by Shaun »

Alright guys, new phone tomorrow, looking to stay on a cap. My dogs literally ate my S4 to the point the screen doesn't work. I refuse to pay another $240 to get the screen fixed as i have already once. Basically i was just saying today i will wait for the S6 and boom this shit happens. So now i am stuck with upgrading now or no phone for the time being until something good is out. Opinions? Thanks

Nexus 5

Samsung are a disappointment to me. They drag their heels when it comes to updating the firmware for phones when compared to competitors.

LG G3?

Should be able to pick up a Nexus 5 pretty cheap.
Pity you have to buy now. Motorola and the Nexus line are due for launches.

Anyone got an invite to buy one of these? I need a new phone and this looks pretty good. Awesome reviews everywhere also.

I looked at the G3, the thing that held me back is its still on 4.4.2 with no view to be updated to Android L as yet.

The Nexus 5 will get L before any of the vendors. HTC have been really good with updating but from what I understand Samsung, Sony and LG take ages.

And the last time mine did an update, it bricked the phone :)

I really like the Xperia Z, and the battery life is pretty good, but it is still a little big.

I think my contract is up early next year. No idea what I will get then.

I really like my HTC OneM8 but it's too big. The OneXL I had before was borderline and this one is just too large. Besides that it's been excellent. Better battery life than either HTC I've had before, great screen, very fast, feels great (much nicer quality than a Galaxy). Camera is only average but is good enough for me. It seems to get updates pretty regularly too. I've had it for 3 months and it's already had two or three updates. Running 4.4.3 at the moment.

Shaun, would you buy from overseas? Cause that Xaiami (sp?) China made phone seems to actually be the latest and greatest. Much more powerful and bigger battery than an S5 yet cheaper or same price as the N5.

Fuck me drunk Mick I could have written that! Feel exactly the same way about my M8, though I've kinda got used to the size now.

Have absolutely fallen in love with the dotview case I must say!!

Yeah, the G3 would be my choice if i had to buy today and I didn't want a Nexus. It looks to be a killer phone.

Vodafone offered me a free HTC 10 and after loving all their previous models I'm not one to say no.
Had it for a while now and I'm liking it even more than the M8. Althought it's a touch bigger, it's thinner and noticably lighter which makes a big difference. Battery life is improved and honestly it's just better in all regards.
I've got a new Ice View case (next gen of the Dot View) on the way I'll check in when I get it.
