Journos can't write about a product weakness with out giving it a clichéd name.

This will go away soon when people realise that if you want a thin light device you need to look after it.

apple will also quietly modify the build process to make newer revisions a bit stiffer..

I'm not sure it matters if it breaks... or what it does... or doesn't do. You can't buy one anyway.

I ended up buying a 6... just couldn't do the 6+. I wanted the extra bit of battery life, and OIS is appealing... but I can't see myself carrying around a phone that big.

Its interesting, its the bezels that kill its size. Pitty Apple stuck with their iconic design instead of designing to the form factor, it could have looked shit hot!

My wife just got the HTC Desire 816 last weekend, its a 5.5" plastic phone but it doesn't feel big. She has a similar sized hand to mine but with girly fingers and she is having no issue using it. I was kinda hoping she would be keen for a swap after a week lol... The weight balance is perfect in the hand and its got me considering going over 5" for my next handset.

I use my S4 now and it feels like a little iPhone 4 :melt:

Yeah the screen size would be fine on the 6+. I actually would have no issues using it, it would be more the daily annoyance of having to carry it around with me. I looked around my car for somewhere it would fit, and couldn't see many options. It would be a bit annoying in pockets etc.

But yeah they could have designed the big one better.

I've been reading that the video was likely faked.

Seems the 6 is about the same as a HTC M8.

he did another one to prove it wasn't, and it bent way easier this time.

I find the whole thing a bit silly to be honest. don't go trying to bend your phone if you don't want it bent. The numbers in that test are fairly conclusive to me, and you don't see everyone jumping up and down and posting memes about the bendy HTC M8.

probably because no one seems to have reported a bent M8. The iPhones are bending in peoples pockets.

I think the HTC is a smaller device than the iPhone+ so while it might be just as weak, it's less likely to bend in your pocket.

It does call into question the claims of premium materials and build quality though, especially on two of the most expensive phones on the market.

I suspect the media coverage about the bending phones will subside now as, true to form, Apple are threatening any media reporting on it with boycotts:

It's not just as weak, it's more weak than the 6+.

And it's about on par with the 6. The 6 is smaller than the M8.

the HTC also has a curved back which would stop it bending as easy. In the video they creased it with the tool which would make it weaker. But for day to day use it'd be strong enough.

Exactly, that's the point. Aluminium seems to be OK for a phone with the dimenions of the HTC M8, but it seems it's not the right material for something the size of a 6+.

Yeah. You get more leverage on a larger device. Interesting that he gets the opposite result to the equipment used to measure pressure applied. Which came back with the 6 being easier to bend than the 6+.

Got my iPhone 6 128GB space gray this morning. It's very nice. I'm loving it so far. Very glad I didn't go the 6+ now.
