Weber Q

Think you can cook a dish that would win Master Top Iron Chef? Well here is the place to share. All the talk about food and good eating goes here. If you think a McAngus burger is gourmet, best you stay away.

Weber Q

Post by Bauer »

Bought one today. Cant wait to try it out. Beer can chicken is on the cards for the near future (but I'll probably just cook a snag lol)

Anyone else have one?

I went to BBQ Galore on the weekend to have a look. They have 3 size models as do a lot of BBQ sales shops

Went to a "specialist" Weber dealer and they have 3 models too - but all slightly different from the BBQ shops and cost $10 more. The benefit is a higher lid with a thermostat and electronic ignition. Well worth the $10 more just for the higher lid.

I grabbed the Q220 which is the middle size.

Hoping to do lot more cooking outside this summer

the kids wanted sausages for tea last night. I wasnt in the mood so I found a couple of pork chops.

A bit of salt and some mixed herbs rubbed in with some oil and then straight on the Weber.

The spuds I peeled, sliced in 2 and then put a slice of Ashgrove Herb and Garlic butter in between the 2 halves before I double wrapped them in foil. I cooked them indirect (on a rack) for about 45 minutes before removing the rack for to cook the meat. They went straight on the hot plate for the final bit.

To top it off, I had a little tub of Geoff Jansz pepper sauce in the fridge. Very tasty.

And of course since I had my phone with me.......

That was gone before I boarded the plane home. Had to share it with the pussy tosser. We didn't have spoons or straws and I think a little moment was had when our tongues touched at the bottom of the tub.

You sure the burners are working right in that? Everything I've ever read about LPG burners tells me you should have a blue flame, oh and the food looks sensational. :yummy:

Good pickup. I assume it is oxygen related, but when I lift the lid for a quick peek, the flame goes orange for a few seconds. In both pics I just lifted the lid with one hand while snapping the pic with the other. Otherwise it does indeed burn blue as expected

Though that gas bottle was nearly empty which probably made it burn orange longer than normal.

To wet out side for BBQ Roast.. Did it in the slow cooker instead, went to grab it out and it fell apart... soo moist, definitely doing that again.
