Codemasters F1 2010

Post by thornz »

Just saw the news that details for this game will announced on March 17th.

http://www.virtualr.net/f1-2010-details" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... arch-17th/

Am hoping for good things with this, would love for it to be the new "Grand Prix 5" although I am aware of codemasters previous racing games.

Did anyone get 2009 on Playstation? Was it any good?

I would love an awesome F1 game ......Grand Prix 2 is still very close to the heart but cant run it anymore. If something could go on from Grand Prix 3 and 4 it would be incredible.

Problem is it is codemasters and all their games are arcade shit and not full-on simulation. After they released V8 Supercars 3 I said I would never buy another codemasters game.

I've been having fun playing Dirt 2 on my PC, so based off of that I'll probably get it.

Picked up the demo of dirt2 the other, and have to say, that while its by no means a sim, I've had an abslute blast playing it!

So perhaps there is hope.

I guess it depends on the attitude you go into it with... Codies is never gunna make a proper sim. They may make a fun F1 game though. I think the best you can hope for is that people can mod it so its more realistic.

It only came out on PSP and Wii unfortunately.

I'll probably get this just as an arcade blast. As long as the driving model is fun, it doesn't have to be too realistic for me (of course, I'd prefer a total sim but I know better than to expect that from Codies).

I actually think I am more after fun games these days, just really cant be arsed putting in hours or practice such as for iRacing. As long as it feels half believable and offers good single player I would be over the moon.
I doubt I have the skills to drive a full on F1 sim anyway

I know what you mean thornz... I can play a full on sim and enjoy it a lot, but if i actually want to be up the pointy end online, it takes many hours of practice and setup work. It turns into a part time job (with no pay), and i just cant justify the hours put into it anymore. The prob is, im a really competitive person. Specially when it comes to sim racing, or if i slap a helmet on for karting or what not. So I don't really wanna drive any sims at all anymore, I'll end up wanting to win... and I don't have the time to waste.

Id be happy with a reasonably believable handling F1 car with a nice career mode or the like.

A little bit more info here:

Sounds like a good, dumb console racer to me. As long as the handling is fun I think i'll enjoy it.

The old PS3 on still had Montoya in it I think. You can get a demo in the PSN store. Wasn't too bad from the way the demo played.

I fancy a new F1 game though.

I really wish they'd let someone who could actually drive do these demos at game launches! The first laps you see on youtube of any new racing game are from n00bs who just use the car in front of them to brake.

Great to see they are finally going to release a realistic F1 sim :melt: They've obviously already incoporated Bernie's wish for shortcuts to be included in the tracks.

Hopefully CodeMasters will provide a sim level of the game by turning all aids off. There was a game many years ago called F1 Racing Simulator (I think) and in arcade mode, it was very ordinary. In sim mode it was a cracker.

From memory when ever Codemaster creates a sim level in one of their games ....its still very arcadish. I remember trying some of their games on the hardest you could get it with no aids and what they called realistic and it still felt like an arcade game.

I certinally have no hope in this game at all.

Please please someone make Grand Prix 5 .....Geoff Crammond, where are you

Not really worried if its a bit arcadey like the GP2,3,4 games. I think the fact is if it was completly realistic, 90% of us couldnt actually drive the thing.

I don't mind arcadey RL based racing games... as long as the AI is good. Too many F1 games in the past have had really poor AI. I don't care if it doesn't handle like a real car, but if I can pass 8 cars down a straight then I'm not interested.
