Dirt 3

Post by Dan »

I don't know how many of you guys played Dirt 1 and 2, but I did and I loved Dirt 2. Wasn't a sim or anything but it was super sexy and super fun.

I really hope the ingame sound is like this...

Slightly pisses me off that colin mcrae dirt turned into ken block dirt.

But yea I enjoyed 1 and 2 was kinda fun.

Just heading too BS for me, will have to see I suppose. It's not the arcadeyness, I enjoy racing on Sega Rally. I think dirt is just not my cup of tea anymore, the original was fantastic on rally stages. 2 seemed to lose the point to point rally fun to me and focus on the door to door bashing around stadiums.

I have only just 'finished' DIRT. Got it a few weeks ago in the steam sale. Thought the point to point stuff, particularly Pikes Peak was great fun. The rally stuff was a close 2nd so if DIRT 2 has less of that, I wont bother.

I'm not sure on specific numbers. But I found that the game forced you into too many stadium bash ups and general circuit stuff which I don't like.

It was good fun though and the graphics are amazing, online play was a bit of a bash but it is even more evident in this mode how un rally like the rally stages are, as people memorise the crap out of them anyway.

Why not create a new line though ? There was no defined path suggesting that they were gonna do this so it feels to me like they stole Colin's fame a bit to launch ken blocks dirt (which it isn't named although essentially is...)

makes sense to me, building on a pretty solid franchise using people who are able to promote the product.
They needed to keep the focus of rallying as its core but obviously its made for a market. I thought 2 was great.

Makes sense yes - Just pisses me off. Seems insulting to Colin Mcrae.

But thats just my point of view and as I keep saying yea the games are fun games.

i am suprised they didn't split the games.
Stadium, rally cross etc with block, pastrana etc.
Then the Mcrae game for a more wrc focused experience.

I look forward to hearing what you lads think of 3 anyway.

the new WRC game may be the answer to the point to point stuff. I dont see a RBR beater in the making as far as a sim goes, but if it is as good as DIRT but focuses on rally, I will be happy

I think that is why I liked #1. Was $4 from steam and I have well and truly got my moneys worth. Way better than I expected. Even the off road racing stuff was fun but I was keen on it for the point to point stuff, even if some of it was in a Big Rig :yikes:

Either not ingame or have been altered, or both. The snow one in particular.
