GRID Autosport Announcement

Post by Duke »

Will be keeping a keen eye on this...
GRID is back and it's going back to its roots!

GRID: Autosport aims to move the series back in line as a more authentic racing game. Set to include a more authentic handling model (more Sim than Race Driver: GRID), five distinct disciplines; Touring, Endurance, Open Wheel, Tuner and Street. Race at 22 locations (primarily circuit based) with a combined route list that totals over 100.

This game is, at its heart, inspired by you guys, our core community.

Whilst I always like belting the codemasters games around, there's no way that there will be anything remotely sim about it.

But, I'll most likely take a look when it appears. Is it coming to PS4?

Nope only PS3 = WTF!!!. http://blog.codemasters.com/grid/04/int ... autosport/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
For GRID Autosport we’ve gone back to a more authentic handling style. It’s definitely not a full simulation – we want it to be authentic, not clinical – but it’s more towards that end of the spectrum than before. If anything, we believe the handling is actually one or two steps further towards simulation than Race Driver: GRID

Each car has been tuned and adjusted to really give a sense of its personality so they will act and behave differently from one another, as they would in real life. This is especially noticeable across disciplines. Pick up a WTCC spec Touring Car and it’ll feel completely different to a Formula 3 car for instance. The goal has been to replicate an authentic feeling of what it’s like to race each of these cars in the games as if you were out on the track yourself.

GRID Autosport launches on June 27th on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3

Yes, we have an in-car view, two in fact

They aren't saying it's a sim. It is just more sim "like"

If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you finally have enough horsepower.

And not a ps4/bone as there coders are not familiar with it and we know what most Codemasters are like.
Some play it safe on the merry-go-round, others go for the thrills of the roller-coaster.

Codemasters have released another new gameplay video of their upcoming GRID Autosport title.
This time, we get to watch a three-lap Formula 3 race at Jarama as Codemasters’ Gehan Pathiraja provides commentary.

It definitely looks sim-arcade & I do hope the dash can be focused but I suspect that it won't as they are probably trying to put in an artificial peripheral vision effect.
Although I did like the look of how the AI drive & react especially against each other.
I still think it could be good for some not-so-racesim-serious fun, especially with my 10yr old &/or some mates. ;)

So ISR have got a chance to have a go, good to get an outside opinion on it finally. (I haven't watched it yet)
Presenting our first look at GRID Autosport by Codemasters on the PC. This is a demo / beta of the game. In this show Darin takes you through the first 50 minutes of gameplay.

First up, he runs the intro race in an Audi R8 LMS Ultra for 2 laps at Hockenheimring. Then he shows you some of the adjustments that can be made and runs a 16 Minute Endurance race at Yas Marina in a Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3 car.

The second races shows the ability to run a 10 minute practice session, 3 lap qualifier and a 2X length race which equates to 16 minutes. It also shows tire wear.

This is not the final version of the game and some things may still change or are work in progress. It does give you a good idea of where they are going with this version of GRID.

Watch and see what Darin thinks about it in his initial test drive.

It's not bad.

Obviously aimed at console racers (that's a given these days), once you get around the weird car handling (they pivot around the front of the car (if that makes sense)) it's a good pickup racer.
