The official 2017 FIA Formula One World Championship game will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
Apparently, the development of the new title is already in a well-advanced state as Codemasters now stated they are ready to recruit community members for their F1 2017 beta testing program.
Codemasters will select 900 beta testers which will be divided into 300 beta testers for each platform. Codemasters explained that at this time, PS4 codes can only be sent to European residents.
When interested in becoming an F1 2017 Beta tester, you will need to have or create a Codemasters forum account after which you can apply for consideration at the dedicated Beta Sign-Up webpage.

Keep in mind that the Beta test agreement means that you cannot take, share and post any screenshots or video footage or talk about the F1 2017 Beta publicly, online or otherwise.
So you will not be able to share your experiences during the Beta test period.
If you fancy helping out to make the Codemasters F1 2017 title even better than the 2016 version, make sure to fill in your application as soon as possible.

KOOL!!!
“For the first time ever F1 2017 fully integrates the classic experience into the main career mode,” said Lee Mather, Creative Director at Codemasters. “As part of your career you will be invited to race in modern day, invitational events in the different classic F1 cars throughout the season. We’re also adding to the variety in F1 2017 with the inclusion of four alternative circuit layouts, as well as numerous new gameplay types. The classic cars will also be available to play in a range of other game modes, including online multiplayer modes and time trial.”

if you pre-order or purchase ‘Day One’ copies of F1 2017, you’ll have exclusive access to the iconic 1988 McLaren MP4/4, as part of the ‘F1 2017 Special Edition.’ The McLaren MP4/4 car will be available to be purchased at a later date, and the eleven other classic cars are available in all editions of the game. The best bit is that you can pre-order on Steam right now – all you need to do is check out F1 2017’s Steam page.

I like F1 2016 but I haven't played it for some time as I find that I struggle to keep up with the cars. It's like I need to spend time in it to speed up my thought process to match the cars. I can see 2017 being even more mad. But I am tempted as you get that nice rule change and some old bangers.

I haven't bought an F1 game since the 2010 one so I'm pretty tempted by this. It's looking good although I bet most of the classics are DLC only which would be a bit rich considering you've already forked out 50-odd quid for the game.

If sales go like the previous version. It'll be half price in a months time.

Only think that's making it hard to justify for me, is the lack of VR. I just don't get why that isn't in all racing games now.

I agree. It is so hard to go back after going VR. I tried it with AMS and American Truck Simulator - with a 40" screen less than a metre from my face, I still felt like I was remote controlling a vehicle that I was peering at through a tiny window.

From a dev side, they will try and wring out as much performance for the flat screen experience. VR just brings a whole bunch of unpalatable presentation compromises that they probably don't want to tackle. That, plus the likelihood that VR uptake probably represents a a small drop in the gaming bucket of gamers.

Yeah, it's going to still be a fairly small percentage. But I think it's pretty desirable for most people, even if they don't have VR yet. Xbox will no doubt soon have a headset, along with playstation VR. combined with the price drops for Oculus, it looks like the market is still expanding. Although this sort of tech is still a fairly small market comparatively, I would have thought it would have been worth it from a promotion and marketing perspective. It works so well with DiRT Rally, it's not like codies doesn't know how to implement VR. But yeah, going back to screens after using VR is difficult. I get why other games don't bother adding in VR just yet, but sim racing/flying etc is one of those perfect platforms for the tech. Doing an F1 career in VR just sounds like so much fun.
