beautiful shots - what I don't get is how can they be in-game shots with such a resolution? I thought the ps3 has a max res. of 1024 pixels horizontal as it is used with TVs (isn't the HDTV res 1024?)
Surprise, no sig. Now there is. Or is there?

PS3 can do up to 1080p, which is 1080 pixels vertical, 1920 pixels across.

They look good but like most full size screenshots I see from next gen consoles, there is still a fair amount of aliasing. I don't get it - if PCs have been able to do it for years now, why can't these super powerful consoles get rid of aliasing too?

Unless they are textures on the road.... There hasn't been any skidmarks in any of the GT games up until now... No idea why not...

On the plus side, cockpit views and 16 players!!

Cockpit views really are the biggy for me. The arcade physics are fun but the game has never been that immersive for me. I'm guessing the AI will be as drive on rails and shit as ever so the single player game will once again simply be about car collecting and hotlapping but the multiplayer should be good fun.

The biggest thing that annoyed me about the GT series of games(I too bought a PS2 just for GT4) is the dodgem car type gameplay, there is no damage so it just became a 'ram-fest' of elbowing other cars out of the way. Does anybody know if they have added damage to GT5?

Yeah but cockpit views have to be done properly. For instance I find the cockpit view in TDU completely unplayable. God knows why.

No damage as far as i know.

I had no problem with them - I actually quite liked them. The rest of the game however...

Did you look at the rear view and side mirrors in the in-car shots. They look like they're screenshots of Test drive on the C64.

Work in progress!

Is it just me, or is the graphics quality much less than the awesome videos we have seen in the past few weeks?

Don't drag old school TD into this, they we're excellent games for their era. espically TD3, i still find myself humming the radio tunes from time to time

The ingame shots look nice but nothing quite like the vids we've been treated to over the last couple of weeks.

FYI there are more screenies.... http://www.gran-turismo.com/jp/gt5p/screen/ [pages and pages, I'm sure you guys can work it out ;)]

Looks good when you view the screenies at the correct size too, I think a few places have blown up the images so they look a bit shitty. Also anyone notice the speedo is out in the Ferrari, or is it just me? :p Its a bit hard to work out which pictures are "photo mode" as apposed to "real time"... But at least all the photo mode ones look mint :) eg;

mmm bling :p

Bah all this waiting and its only for prologue :\ It seems like its still gonna be a long time before theres an A++ ps3 game :(

While it may be photorealistic, I just hope it's videorealistic. Get the physics at least visually realistic and I'll play it :). I've probably ranted on this before, but it sh*ts me that developers work on photo realism more than motion realism, in an age where the technology for photo realism is easily achieved.

OT I maintain that the original NFS was better than GT - no burnouts in GT :P

The orig NFS was a helluva game I agree - shame these devs don't care crap about the realism at all - only the real-look indeed. It's like everything else in the world to be honest, more looks, less inside.
