Minecraft 1.4.6 / B T W 4.41

Post by NeilPearson »

So Has Tekkit run its course? Im a bit over it and since it seems to be stuck in 1.2.5 and not going anywhere is anyone up for a change?

I have always wanted to try Better than wolves on SMP, now that it is available, i thought id put it out there.

I'd give it a go. Since it's in 1.4.2 I can keep playing with the new stuff there as well.

Creeper destroyed my beacon yesterday so if I'm going to go hunt wither skeletons again I'd rather do it in SMP :)

I'm getting a bit annoyed with the enchanting though. Level 30 bow enchantment = power I. I thought they were supposed to have fixed that shit. So I've been doing level 10-15 enchantments and combining them on the anvil instead.

Twas me that voted no but should have voted "if others want to" so consider that my vote

Im the main one on tekkit now so I might as well be playing solo and I wouldnt do that.

Does adding better n wolf upset tekkit? my kids play that on a server and dont want to upset that.

I don't think Better than Wolves upsets Tekkit Stu, Tekkit is a stand alone client, whereas Better than wolves is a mod for vanilla MC so they should run side by side without a problem

Tekkit has a separate install directory, so you can run that and vanilla/modded minecraft on the same machine no probs.

Bauer, I can upload the tekkit map for you if you would like. So if you want to keep going on that you can.

Looking through the wiki there is a heap more stuff in the mod than the last time I played it. Looks like it's more involved than tekkit to get to the top tier stuff :)

Stupid forum acronym expansion

It has its own enchanting system as well, which seems to be based around building mob traps.

You can't carry water source blocks in buckets, no co-ordinates on the F3 screen, and you don't respawn in your bed when you die

we can turn the hardcore water/beds on off. Ill turn harcore buckets off, but maybe leave the beds on. piss reppohc off

I saw a post by flower child regarding the beds, it was to force people to create transport. I like it, think its a great idea.

I was interested to see how it worked out without buckets as well. Would have had to make canals etc to get water where we wanted :)

lol, typical me... 1.4.4 released... forget about the mod!
now to find the old JAR and hope it still works!

did it via MCNostalgia!
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/800 ... -with-144/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

BAH! Still not working... seems when I'm putting the modloader in my jar file, after the login screen, MC turns black :(

tested with the MCPatcher install method and it gave an error...

Code: Select all

It looks like by the way has been updated to work with the latest version of Minecraft. Is it easy to update or should I wait for one of you guys to do it?

I'm easy. There seems to be a few bugs in 1.4.2 so it would be nice to upgrade at some point, so long as we don't lose the current map :)

God this is annoying! There must be something I'm doing wrong! I've force-updated Minecraft, d/l the latest modLoader and by the way. I open minecraft.jar in WinRAR, delete META-INF (or whatever it's called), and drag and drop the contents from the modloader and by the way (Client folder) from their archives into the minecraft.jar window.

I'm still getting black screen after I click login... and don't want to rely on getting other people's jar files!

Anyone had this before?

Neil said he had it because he was using another mod (rei minimap) which was incompatible with the new version. Check that your .minecraft\mods directory is empty.

You also have to copy files into the jar from the better than wolves zip, but I assume you're doing that.

Another thought is did you have a texture pack loaded which might require mcpatcher to be run on the jar before it will load? I had that happen on my other machine. NFI why it would do that.
