Final ride for the year, and with perfect weather too. Ideally Miss V would have come along but she managed to roll her ankle while trail running yesterday evening :( She should be ok by the time the TDU starts though! :D

2017 was certainly a better than average year for me on the bike with more than couple of long standing personal records falling. :)

Some stats:
Distance 10,558.3 km
Time 426h 40m
Elev Gain 76,499 m
Rides 542

let's do it all again next year, yeah? :D

Nice distance total CLP, mega kudos to you mate.

I was happy with my 3,000k given I hardly looked at the bike in November & December.

I got 2018's account kicked off today with a 56k trail ride. Took a Clif bar with me, the same loop attempt I did at the end of 2017 I tanked severely on and took a B line home after my climb and descent in Ansteys. Today I should have taken 2...

Today I went for some redemption and did the same loop, minus an extra climb and descent in Cobblers at the start but extended the middle of the ride to include a venture around the old mine at South Ansteys and a explore at the top of the Torrens at Gorge Rd. I actually thought there was a single track there but I got my locations confused with Heyward Dr.

Good to be back on the bike.

I rode this on Monday night and didn't get a chance to revisit it during our holiday in the daylight. I wasn't going to leave without wondering what it would look like in the daylight so I woke up bright and early to ride it before we packed up and left Normanville this morning.

It didn't disappoint.

10th and Final Ride Like Crazy community ride yesterday ..
A little bit sad, but at the same time it's good that they let it go on a high note having achieved what they set out to do, namely raise funds for cancer research.

In the lead up to the ride, Miss V rolled her ankle so in the week leading up to RLC we'd been closely monitoring it to make sure that she could ride. Physio gave her the all clear, and "strapped the shit out of it" (his words). That said, there were a couple of bail-out plans in place should things go pear shaped.

Weather was near perfect.. a little cool early on, but turning sunny later in the ride.

I took the corkscrew option, while Miss V didn't. I passed a bunch of people going up Corkscrew, some looked to be in a world of pain. Thinking they didn't research the climb prior to heading up there! The Garmin live track feature on the Garmin 820 worked really well in this instance since i could see where she was to help us meet up on the road afterwards :)

Finished the distance with a bit of relief, but definitely some smiles. BBQ and a Ham Roll finished the day :) Still rates as one of the best organised community rides in my book.

Epic CLP. A big group ride like that would be a lot of fun.

Ticked off a little personal milestone for myself today, 1000vm in Cobbler Creek.
Cobblers is a small hill really, 220m max elevation and about 70m at its lowest point so its a case of trying to ride every trail in the place to get the job done. Ive come up about 100-150m short pre Garmin days so today I was determined to tick off that box. Was a tad hot today, should have started an hour or two earlier but there was no quitting once I got going.

Phew! massive day on the bike for me. I decided to ride out to Williamstown for the final circuits of Stage 1 of the Tour Down Under. A bit on the warm side, but nowhere near the furnace like heat we had last year for the same stage.

Caught up with Miss V on who had driven out with a bike and did a loop of the most of the circuit (missing bits that were closed). Having completed our lap it was back to the car to grab the cameras and take some shots of the Pros :)

After the race had been run and won, i guzzled some ice water that V had brought along and headed home on the bike. There were a few points where i was wondering if i'd made a bad choice, possinly due to the heat, possibly also due to not eating enough. I stopped along the way for a Coke and i think that fixed me up :) Hurrah for sugar and caffeine!

All up, 138km for the day which I'm pretty happy with. :)

MASSIVE.

Hats off to you, that would have been a long day.

The mrs said to the kids if they wanted some home cooked chips after tea. Instead of watching TV whilst they cooked I asked the boys who wanted to go for a ride, 2 out of 3 said yes so off we went. Loving making use of the daylight savings light to get a pedal in with the boys, gonna have to do it a few more times before they go back to school.
